When I first watched B5, erratically and out of order, not the best of circumstances, I remember being terribly bored by the Lorien sequences. I loved them later when I watched in sequence. I've never been sure whether it was age or just having the darn thing in order...and understanding a little more of what was going on! I love The Summoning, and Lennier's look is one of my very favorite scenes with him. So many emotions in one look. Delenn's look back at him when she takes off to join John is pretty telling too. I like the contrast in Garibaldi and Zack's expressions too.
Hair--now I liked shaggy John quite a bit, although military cut John is quite nice too. His hair mirrors his role at the time.
The time limit I think is more important than you do. It affects everything between them for a while, and then it is pushed into the background, and then it comes back at the end. Although death is inevitable, most of us go through life not thinking about it all that much. We certainly don't live our lives as if we know we have limited time. It's a profound and penetrating knowledge.
