It totally would! The second Uhura needed something, Chekhov would be all "ooh ooh I can do zat" and scamper to do whatever it was, and Spock would be in the background all "grr" on the inside even though he knows it's "illogical." And Uhura would be super nice to him, unlike Kirk, because he's so adorable.

I'm not too keen on writing Chekhov because he was barely in the movie and I don't know anything about him from TOS, which I've barely seen. =D I'm sure you would do a much finer job.
