Boats! Boats! How I love boats!

I'm going sailing!

Yes, in about an hour I'm driving with the mom-unit up to Alameda (near Oakland, No. Cal.), and we're going to spend tonight on the boat where the dad-unit already is, go sailing tomorrow with the other SJ Sailing Club people who I haven't spoken to in a while (because I stopped going to the regular meetings since middle-school ended), and then spend Saturday night on the boat too.

I'm very excited-- I passed up the last few opportunities my paretns have gone out for a day-sail, because I had school to do or just didn't feel like it. But I'm excited now, because I'll be able to relax (as much as you can on a boat)... and have lots of fun.

I'll miss almost three days of LJ though... -_-

Thank you! I hope you have fun with yours also.

My parents bought a 26' McGregor sailboat when I was four (15 years ago), and I grew up around sailboats for that. Last summer my parents bought a boat in Canada that they'd been saving up for for a long time, a Catalina 36'. We eventually shipped it down, and now it's moored in a dock in Alameda, and we take it out onto the estuary or SF Bay. There's a world of comfort difference between 26 feet and 36. After 14 years of weekend trips and mini-vacations on the McGregor, the new boat makes me feel almost spoiled.

[grin] My parents have a 36' Uniflite, so I can understand what you mean. :-)
