timepiececlock: (Edward freaked out)

(no subject)

I just saw an Adult Swim ad (fake ad?) for something called "SwimCon" that had... cosplayers.

Dancing around someone's living room in full cosplay regalia. I counted: Inuyasha, Jin, Asuka, Edward, Kusanagi, the redhead from FLCL, and at least one other.

Dancing in a circle. In someone's living room.

Weird, weird deja vu to Japanese television that I was completely unprepared for.

Maybe I'm still a bit of a prejudiced American closet anime fan instead of an enlightened otaku, because although I love and proudly display my anime t-shirts and other paraphernalia, my first reaction to that commercial was "No. I want cosplay to happen in person or on websites, not on my home tv. Make it stop, please make it stop."

Yeah, I'm with you on that.

I know the chick (yes, chick) who played Ed. Those are real cosplayers who supplied their own costumes. X_x
