help?

I just changed the entire color scheme of my LJ, but while it says "saved", none of the colors are changing on my actual journal page.

EDIT: sorted out.

I'll keep it this way for a while, but I miss the "edit" and "tag" links from the main journal page-- going into each entry for that is annoying.

Grey and blue, right?

I'm working on prettifying it with a mildly image-spoilery Doctor Who Layout.

I accidentally got this in the process.

It's rather nice, though. Soothing.

When you changed the custom colors, did you remember to click the radio button for custom colors, or was it still on the preset color scheme collection?

I didn't realize it, but when I made the post it actually was being overruld by a additional customization layer from like 3 years ago.

I assume you changed colors using the Customization Wizard (manage --> customize --> look and feel --> colors).

1. Do you have a custom theme layer? This would be a place where you entered CCS code by hand, under "advanced customization". Custom theme layers will sometimes overwrite colors selected by the Wizard.

2. On the Basics page, does it say "Type: Wizard" in the Current Display Summary box?

3. It's possible that your colorscheme was saved, but not set as the default display. r you may have done something to reset it. Try going to Your Styles and selecting "use" on some other style that has "flexiquares" in it.

4. If you still can't figure it out, you can ask on the [livejournal.com profile] s2flexisquares community and I know someone will be able to help you.

You can add edit and tag links from the main page if you don't mind messing with S2 custom theme layers. Though you can't see them, I have them on my jounral (they're next to "Link" and "Mem".)

about advanced customizations
about adding edit/tag/memory/link links (though this tutorial is kind of a mess, let me know if you're interested and I'll give you the code I'm using)

Can I add advanced customizations on top of an external CSS thingy? Won't they contradict each other or something?

You can use both at the same time by putting all of the code from the external stylesheet in the custom theme layer.

Here's how you do that.

What you want to do is copy whatever's in your external stylesheet box right now, paste it into your theme layer between [css] and [/css], then paste the other stuff (for adding edit/tag/memory links) under that.

Durrrr, I meant between [style] and [/style].

This is truly a lovely layout you have. Here I sit, jealous of your layout. *grabs at screen* wants!
