Movie: Super Troopers

My brother just made me watch Super Troopers.

Super Troopers is the kind of silly, boyish movie that should be embarassing, stupid, and wince-worthy, but somehow it managed to make me laugh about 40 times without being overly embarassing or making me wince. It was pretty silly, but silly in an affectionately amusing and inoffensive way. I guess there were some things in there that could have been pretty offensive, but even those didn't really offend me so much as make me crack a smile. The cop-pulling-you-over jokes were by far the best thing in the movie. It was certainly juvenile, but it's easily the most viewer-friendly juvenile humor I've seen in a movie in a long time. I liked it, and I'd easily watch it again.

But a warning: if you don't like the opening scene, you're probably not going to like the rest of the movie.

(I just have to say... the syrup thing? YUCK-Y. I did wince at that, I admit.)

Oh, I was surprised I laughed as much as I did at Super Troopers, too. It's been a long time since I've seen it, so I can't recall hardly anything specific. I just remember the couple who'd been pulled over having a three-way with the head police guy. I sorta want to check out Beerfest because it's by the same group of people who did ST.

It was a four-way with him and his live-in girlfriend, actually. :g:

I liked it when they had the stoners and they pulled them over, harassed them, then drove 200 feet up, then backed up behind them with their lights on to pull them over again. When the stoners hadn't even moved. Then they repeated the same conversation just to mess with their heads.

The repeat-your-partner trick was also pretty funny.

I still don't get why people think this is one of the funniest movies on earth. My ex-boyfriend introduced me to this movie and I just thought it was stupid and never laughed at it. EVER. I never told him, but I was secretly angry at him for showing it to me.

It's definitely the kind of thing you either find funny or don't. I can easily understand why it wouldn't work for some people.
