TV Wrap-Up: How I Met Your Mother: season 3 completed!

Favorite Episodes: Slap Bet, How I Met Everyone Else, The Goat, that one where Robin plays laser tag.

Favorite Character: Barney, natch. How could I not love watching NPH steal every scene he appears in?

Least Favorite Character: It used to be Robin, but now it's Ted. Though that's almost unfair, because I don't dislike Ted. I just don't love him as much as I love the other four.

OTP: Robin/Barney/TheMallSong.

Favorite Jokes Are Always From: Lily & Marshall. Because they are a unit and must always be written as a pair, even in a tv review. I love Lily's sexual comments and Marshall's sweet geeky singing. And the phrase "You've been lawyered."

Favorite Surprise As A Viewer: the scene where Ted meets Barney for the first time, and the entire 3-way conversation at the table.

Favorite Recurring Joke: It's a toss-up between the Slap Bet and "Best friend!"

Who is Ted's future kids' mother? I think we haven't met her yet, but I predict we will in season 4. It's really pushing the limit of a decent reveal.

Fanfic: YES PLEASE. Um... Barney/Robin is great, but gen works too, and more humor the better!

Fandom: I'm going to dive in. If anyone else on my flist loves this show, tell me! I never had an inkling until last week that it would be so awesome. It's almost given me faith in sticoms again.

Plus, now I have a show I can laugh at, and save my angsting for shows about aliens and vampires and robots and time travel and firebenders and killer time-traveling robots and robot aliens and possibly alien vampires too.

The first thing I did after watching the show was to join

barneyrobin XD This fandom is SO tiny, it didn't get his own FF.net category until this year! The only good thing about that is that there is no wank or ship wars! BTW, I read all the fanfics available at the Barney and Robin com, but I can't seem to remember any of them at the moment... it's not that there is A LOT, go read them all XD

I think I was hooked on this show with ZipZipZip. It made me finally love Robin, and it made me love Barney more, and it made me love them as Bros... until the last scene with the battleship, which made me love them as Bros and made me ship them too. How ironic that with the season 3 finale, two seasons after Barney's speech of "we're both independent and not looking for commitment" we find out he doesn't just lust after Robin, he loves Robin. Run, Barney, before the commitment catches up to you! ...oops, too late.

BrOTP!

LilyandMarshall are my favorite tv married couple right now. I am fully convinced of their romance for eternity. I love them both equally, and the two actors play so well off each other.

I immediately joined that same community last night. And I've been working my way backward from the top. I started saving the ones I really liked in a new "memories" folder. 'A' Game is my favorite, by far.

I should remember to use my 'memories' I always forget the fanfics I like!

he loves Robin Man, don't jinx it >_< Can't wait for S4!

I'm expecting almost a whole season of awkwardness and hilarity before any hooking up happens again. Barney's going to suffer, and Robin needs to go through some of her issues too.

If they don't make it painfully slow, I'm going to be very pissed. I like it painfully slow!

The entire FFNET page is, like, nothing but Barney/Robin shippers. I love how reliable fanfic writers and internet fandom can be, sometimes. We tend to converge... with strikingly similar "Hey, what do you think about..." mindsets.

I think fandom is too predictable... which is why I don't know how Bryan and Mike got it so so wrong...

I know! I bet they've learned for their next show, but wow... I can't help but think that a the people who make shows like Lost or BSG or Veronica Mars or, of course, Joss Whedon would take one look at the character list of season 1 and instantly point to who the most popular pairing would be two seasons down the line. Of course those shows do cater to a more sophisticated and older audience, but still. Fandom is *really* predictable sometimes.

Once you get to the end of season 1 of DW, make sure you go to "Season 0" list on surfthechannel.com and watch these before watching season 2:

1. Children In Need Special, 2005 (a seven minute "missing scene" between episodes, so worth seeing.) "Children In Need" was a fundraiser where they showed this clip as a preview for season 2.

2. The Christmas Invasion, 2005

Each season is 13 episodes + Christmas special. You'll definitely want to watch the specials.

Oh right, I was in San Francisco, I had gotten 4 hours of sleep, had been in the city since 11 am walking none stop... it was painful and I wanted it to end. And then I had to drive the 4 hours back and got home at midnight... O_o

I was thinking of this on the drive to my night class, and I just HAD to tell you about it. It's so crazy awesome.

Title: "It's A Bitch Convincing People To Like You"

Pairing: Azula/Barney

Summary: 'I've got to hand it to you, you've played by all the same rules.'

Premise: 18-year-old Azula (with Ty Lee as her wingman) goes out to a bar to try this "boys" thing Ty Lee is always babbling about. She attempts [badly] the same "be stupid and smile" advice from the episode The Beach, and Barney tries to hit on her. Unfortunately, Azula is the person who makes a "crazy/hot" scale moot, because no one is as hot or as crazy as Azula. Hilarity ensues!

Second idea, came to me on the drive home:

Through a series of strange circumstances, Robin ends up giving Barney a puppy. As a present, kind of.

At first he doesn't want it, tries to foist it off on a couple of the women he seduces, but ultimately he can't give it away. After all it's a gift from his Bro, from Robin, and he's kind of not ready to admit why it matters that she was the one to give it to him.

Eventually the puppy wears him down and a couple weeks later he decides that rather than being a burden, this puppy will be an Awesome Puppy. With an Awesome Collar of [Gaudy Bling] Awesomeness, and they will be Awesome together: Awesome Barney and his Awesome Dog.

And that's how the taming of Barney Stinson begins. He's not ready for a girlfriend or a wife or a serious commitment to a person, but he's an obsessive caretaker so giving him a puppy:

a) distracts him with something new to obsess over
b) goes straight for his deeply buried mushy lovey-dovey heart and inner-23-year-old peacenick
c) gives him a best friend that's just his
d) gets him to commit to some[one], even if right now it's only one small, fuzzy, constantly-widdling-on-the-carpet puppy.

You should see the silly grin plastered on my face right now.

Azula is the person who makes a "crazy/hot" scale moot That is strangely PERFECT. Azula/Barney sounds... dare I say it? Legendary...

And I want to have the second idea's babies! Awesome Barney and his Awesome Dog. He so totally would! write it write it write it write it

Male or female dog?

I kind of think he should have a female dog (just seems to fit), but a male dog is more "bro" style.

Don't know why, but I think a male dog would be better.

Settled that then.

ooh, he could put off naming it until the end of the ficlet, so that when everyone else meets the dog they finally hear its "legendary" name choice.

I'm totally picture Barney posing, suited up, and the puppy is beside him, posing with nose in the air and "suited up" collar of awesome. And then another image, same clothes, with the puppy doing something embarrassing/cute/puppyish and Barney's totally lost his cool pose.

You don't have to draw that, of course, but that's the general theme of the pairing in my head.

But Barney is even harder to draw than a dog. Believe me, I've tried lol I'll keep trying, though, I'm not one to give up easily *brave face*

I have never tried to draw real people as cartoons. If it were me I'd probably just oversimplify until it was a blond guy with maybe-blue-dots for eyes. ::sheepish::
