How I Met Your Mother 4x14

HIMYM 4x14 - "Barney Stinson: That Guy's Awesome / The Possimpible"

This was the funniest episode of the season so far. The big one-liners were funny, the support one-liners were funny, and even the physical acting was hilarious. From Barney's unseen/ignored gesture to Robin's camera expressions to Marshall and Lily awkwardness (I can relate, Marshall!). Every scene in this episode had something to make me laugh, sometimes several things.

...and, of course, his unnoticed proposal. No hesitation! Not just shippy, but a really funny silent gag, too.

Yes, I love that he did not hesitate. For a guy who is so against the idea of marriage, when he thought Robin might be in need enough to say yes, he knelt without thought. And I love that clip, the way he brushes her hair, holding her as much as he can. And, he didn't give up. Even after she declared the video a bust.

Also, I loved that Lily decided to prove she could still speed-eat, rather than remove it from her resume. That sums up so much of her character.

I was amused and surprised by his proposal--it was a great silent joke. I don't think I'd have liked it if they seriously tried it on the show--neither of these two want or are ready to be married. But I got a kick out of knowing that Barney's "feelings" infection is so strong that he'd marry her in a second if she wanted/needed a husband. And his awkward attempt to stand back up casually after Marshall dismissed the idea was great too.

That Guy's Awesome

Yes! I almost missed that except I rewatched the end of the episode and noticed. I loved the 'food baby' visual pun as well.
