Doctor Who vids, especially shipper vids, might have notably less violence.

humansrsuperior has Meet The Doctor, which works as a sample 'trailer' style vid, and has no real violence. Also, it's seriously cute.

'All in All' is a DW vid that might work for you...it has little moments of violence, but that's just a tiny part; the purpose of the video is life struggle and friendship, not violence. It's a multicharacter, multiship video that I thought worked very well. I couldn't figure out where I'd originally gotten it from, and google failed me, so I uploaded it directly for you.

Avatar: The Last Airbender vids are especially interesting because they borrow a lot of style decisions from anime vidding community, but like live action-based vidders, they're predominantly female and exist more on Livejournal, youtube, and imeem than on amv.org.

Scars of Time (Bending) by

stick is a gorgeous video about the magical martial arts of ATLA. Half of it seems about violence, the other half is about pure physicality, dance, and physical-philosophical expression. It's also a fantastic video to show the advantages of instrumental music, where lyrics would only get in the way. I didn't see it on her website so I uploaded a direct-download link to the version I have saved already.

Anime Music Videos

Hold Me Now, hands down my favorite AMV, for the show Princess Tutu. If you follow the 'indirect' link at the bottom you can download the pretty version from her website. It's also been re-posted about 400 times on youtube. It's all about ballet. So there's some violence...ballet violence. Either way, it's an excellent peak into the kind of graphic matching and visual-color vibrancy you can get from anime videos that you often can't from live action vids. You don't have to know the fandom to appreciate it, in fact this won Best In Show at a con and many people went to watch the series just because of this one video.

The Tainted Love of Haruhi Suzumiya, a relationship video that amuses me for being more about a bad relationship than a good one. The story: Boy falls in love with girl in his class. Girl is egomaniacal, brilliant, fun to be around, scary as hell, and possibly the antagonist of the show. The video uses the bright, warm, gorgeous animation of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and does some nice color effects to give accent to the transitions. It's sometimes hard to tell what color effects are from the vidder and what were part of the series.

Still Preoccupied with 1985 by Suberunker Studeosh, a character-study video that uses crazy fun tricks like split screens, manipulated images that parody famous bands and anime shows. It's fantastically edited and easy to understand without having seen the series. Also interesting to note: the characters of the show it sources, Azumanga Daioh, are entirely female. It's about a girls school and I think the only male in sight is a distantly creepy gym teacher. The video focuses on a very stressed out middle school teacher and all the crap she has to put up with every day. No violence, though she does end up yelling at people a lot.

Makes me wish I could ever successfully download anything from that AMV site...those all sound really cool. -_-;

Make an account. It's free. Then a week later, you can! I know it seems annoying to wait a week for anything on the internet, but oh is it WORTH IT. I adore the videos there, some of them are the best video editing I've seen on the internet.

Hello! You don't know me, but you share my love for Princess Tutu! And I have a couple of favorite AMV's that are fairly violence free. ^_^ It was an interesting challenge to think of AMV's that I've seen without any violence.
