A conversation I had IRL recently.

Rashaka: "...blah blah depends if they're really into the ho yay...."

ShakaDad: "What's ho yay?"

Rashaka: ..."Um..." *momentarily stumped as to how to explain* "Eh...Homosexuality Yay!"

ShakaDad: "Oh. Okay. That must be some kind of generational slang, never heard it before."

Rashaka: "Um, don't worry. Most people probably haven't heard it."


This is what happens when you allow fandom to bleed into your normal habits; it pops out at unexpected moments. I wish I could remember what prompted the tangent in the first place, but it's already slipped my mind. Probably something to do with movies.

Hee! Had to explain "made of win!" to classmates the other day.

Me: "[Our teacher] is made of win!"

Classmate 1: "Made of what?"

Me: "Win. It means she's great. She's made of win."

Classmate 2: ((blankly)) "Why 'win'?"

...I find these things come out most when I haven't slept. ;)

Do your parents do that thing where they end up using slang you've used later and befuddling other people with it?

You know, I would think that once you explain that the phrase means "she's great," the reasoning for "win" would be apparent. I'm sorry, but is this classmate usually very dense?

...she's bright, but often comes to class hungover, which kinda hinders her intelligence.
