timepiececlock: (Barney&Robin - Maybe I Even Love You)

I bought 2 months of a paid account just to make this poll.

(And I immediately spent two hours making ATLA icons, then downloading HIMYM icons. From 6 to 37 is quite the jump!)

So here's the sitch: The universe is lame--that's lame I say. After two weekends my 'rents are now canceling on me for the Star Trek viewing tomorrow. This makes the third time that people I know have either gone without me or flaked on going. I COULD HAVE SEEN IT BY MYSELF TWO WEEKS AGO WHEN IT FRELLING CAME OUT, IF I KNEW THE UNIVERSE WOULD SUCK SO MUCH.

So. I won't get to see it on Friday, but my couple-friends might be able to go on Saturday. If the universe doesn't continue to suck and I don't get a phone call telling me they went last night without me, or their kid has the flu, or something.

On a completely separate note, there's a cute 23-year-old on the Okcupid.com dating site that I've been talking to briefly for the last week. We exchanged phone numbers but haven't called one another yet.

I say go for it; you really don't have anything to lose. Plus, Star Trek is a good fake date. My friend and I ended up kind of accidentally picking up two dudes at a bar and going to see a late show of Star Trek in the middle of the week, so you doing this is like infinitely less weird/creepy than that!

Aww, go for it! I don't think you have anything to lose. And you get to see Star Trek.

On the other hand, I would hate if ST got ruined under the panic of "OMG, here on first date with a cute nerdy boy, OMG." But then again, Star Trek.

I really need new HIMYM icons.

Dunno what advice I'd offer, honestly, but I think I'll side with the others and say go for it. Ultra lame how often people've bailed on you with this movie, though. :/

Oh, also, off-topic, but your new Toph icon is AWESOME.

Thanks, it's available if you want to grab it. I made it last night; the lyrics are from "This Girl Is Taking Bets" by Thea Gilmore. great song.

I am pretty much in the same predicament, I NEED to see Star Trek but most of my RL friends are not into it at all. My boyfriend who very much is into all things sci-fi is all the way in Arkansas and already saw it. I may have to just suck it up and go by myself.

I'd say pretty much what you said, only calmer. :) (Honestly, I'd say nothing, because I am nervous and socially incompetent, but if I weren't, I'd do that.)

I say yes! It's much more fun if you can geek about it with someone while watching.

And if you two don't get along, then at least you'll have watched and awesome movie :D

Well, it sounds fine without the part about hating to see movies alone (which, if said to me, would sound to me either like I was a last resort, or like I totally wasn't a last resort but they were trying very hard not to sound desperate), but I can't speak for him or guys in general.

I agree with [livejournal.com profile] flutingfrenzy - say that you want to see it with someone so you can talk about it afterwards, rather than you hate to go alone. But definitely get in touch.
