What was the nicest thing anyone's ever said about you?
There were two things. One was something someone said last year, but I actually forgot the compliment. I just remember that it made me feel awesome and I swore I'd never forget--erven though I did.
The other one was in 7th grade, when this girl in my english class, who wasn't even particularly my friend, said "You write like an adult." That made me indescribably happy.

High praise
The second nicest thing anyone has said to me is a toss up. Moment the first: Mr. L.E. (published 75 novels, pres of big writer's assoc, Pulitzer nominated), only a day after meeting me for the first time at a writer's conference, and only hours after reading a short story I had written for the WC, telling Mr. E that I had talent. Moment the second: Mr. E telling me he was, and I quote, "not a little bit impressed" after reading an introduction I had written for a proposed anthology. (HIGH PRAISE from Mr. E I walked around with my feet off the ground for a week. And Mr. E is noted for his tactless ability to tell people their writing sucks, so I feel justified that he wasn't just stroking my ego.)
Now if only I could parlay these two moments into a paying gig!!!
::sigh::
Re: High praise
That's awesome! It'd be great to get such a compliment from a person you greatly admire. :)
Re: High praise
And the fact that I haven't run screaming through the streets is really and truly an accomplishment for me. I'm such a scorpio, it's pitiful.
Sorry for rambling on in your lj, but I haven't ever really told anyone this, so it's nice to share secrets. I feel like I'm in 8th grade again, whispering in class about boys. ::grin::

And, basically, every nice thing anyone has ever said about my writing.

Well, there are worse things. They could have said your feet were the nicest things about you.
As for that guys-- stuff him. I always admrie pretty things, even if they're simple or cheap or whatever... beauty is beauty and I'm a gusher by nature.
