1 more thing on Academy Awards

I was extraordonarily pleased to see "Spirited Away" win best animated film.

I was sitting there, prepared to throw birthday cake at the tv if they gave it to that stupid horse movie (which I did sit all the way through, btw... god it was a bore... made for 4 year olds.) Anyway, I was quite excited that it won, and pleased that Cameron Diaz pronounced Hayao Miyazaki's name correctly too.

Still though, a part of me is annoyed that it wasn't nominated for Best Foreign Film. It really should have been.

It rightly should have been, but since it was released as a dub with only limited screenings with subtitles I imagine that is why it was lumped with in the anime category. I mean Beauty & the Best got a best picture nod, ya think they'd take it from there *shakes head*

Hey, sorry, found this through a friends' friend thing. Anyway, was going to say word about Spirited Away.

I was thinking, maybe it couldn't be nominated as Best Foreign Film because it first came out in Japan two years ago? I'm not sure what the Oscar rules are for that. And maybe Japan didn't put it out as best foreign film then because they thought there was no way those people in Hollywood would vote for an animated movie no matter how fricking good it was.

Ahem. Sorry.
