1 more thing on Academy Awards

I was extraordonarily pleased to see "Spirited Away" win best animated film.
I was sitting there, prepared to throw birthday cake at the tv if they gave it to that stupid horse movie (which I did sit all the way through, btw... god it was a bore... made for 4 year olds.) Anyway, I was quite excited that it won, and pleased that Cameron Diaz pronounced Hayao Miyazaki's name correctly too.
Still though, a part of me is annoyed that it wasn't nominated for Best Foreign Film. It really should have been.

Date: 2003-03-24 07:45 pm (UTC)I guess it might have had less chance of winning, but I would have liked it to be nominated for both. :) Anyway, I'm also going with the theory that because it was playing in dubbed version here most of the time, it might not quite have qualified. I wish, wish.

Date: 2003-03-24 07:55 pm (UTC)I would have loved for it to be nominated for everything =). Love that movie so much that I watched it when it came out in Japan even though I didn't know Japanese that well, watched it when it came out in Taiwan with Chinese subtitles (made much more sense) and when it came out here. It was also really unreasonable, but I really wanted to see Miyazaki accept the award just because.
