(no subject)

It just occurred to me that exactly two weeks from now, BtVS will have been over for 2 days.

I got this journal to talk about Buffy. What am I going to DO?!?!

I'll have

no Buffy
no Firefly
no Farscape
no Miracles (not that I watched that, but I was all set to start when they cancelled)

only Alias and Angel, both of which I like but neither of which I love

... and Enterprise, but that's a piece of shit hour that I only ever watch because my dad's a fan and can't let go because it's ^Star^Trek^. Not that I blame him, being that I probably inherited this need to be a fan mostly from him (though my mother IS a big LOTR obssessor too)

... and Charmed. Except I don't watch Charmed. And seeing the last promo that I did, about the three of them being Greek goddesses... I know exactly why.

::sob:: I don't even have money to buy Hellsing or other anime. And I watched one episode of Ruroni Kenshin and hated it.

I am losing things to follow obsessively.

In six months, I won't even have Lord of the Rings!!!

::cries::

::goes off to bed::

ETA: Though I will have about 6 DVDs worth of LOTR extras to work my way through... Hn....
Maybe the Cartoon Network will finally air DBGT. I could use some purple-hair bishounen right about now...

I feel like Humphrey Bogart. You'll always have fanfic.

***glomp***, hope that means that you'll continue to throw us a few crumbs of fic post BtVS. Several people had all ready gone and taken down their sites before Storyteller even aired. It was so depressing.

Yeah. You'll keep writing it for a while, won't you? ::pleading puppy eyes::

[identity profile] ginmar.livejournal.com 2003-05-09 06:39 pm (UTC)(link)
You make it sound like I have a choice. If I get an idea, I have to write it out. I just don't think "MUSE" is a good word for what I've got. It's more likea combination Catholic School Nun crossed with a Basic Training Drill Sergaent---Oh, wait, that's redundant. That's like saying something is Henry Hyde crossed with Newt Gingrich.

There, there, *pats back* believe me when I say that I do feel your pain. Though I got my LJ to rant about my everyday shit, still, it became more interesting when I got to shoot the shit about BtVS and other TV. As for anime, I have several VCD copies of shows I would gladly make copies for you. Have you seen Naruto, Samurai Deeper Kyo, or Wolf's Rain? They're all quite entertaining. DBGT is supposed to hit the air waves sometime this fall or next year on Cartoon Network, so do expect that soon (even though I personally don't like to aknowledge it as canon. I've seen the subs *shudders*). But fret not, maybe something new will come up this summer (hey, remember Witchblade?) or perhaps in the fall. I totally recommend Dead Zone.

anime?!

[identity profile] rashaka.livejournal.com 2003-05-09 09:27 am (UTC)(link)
I've seen non of those, actually. What are they about? I tend to like the dramatic/adventure type stuff, and not much of the cutsey-girly school dramas (except Sailor Moon, which I did like but have seen all of.)

I used to watch Witchblade. But they cancelled that too, didn't they? Just when I started to get into it.

I have the West Wing. But I don't fic that, I just watch it.

I've seen the subs *shudders*).

Yeah, i probably won't watch it anyway.

Do you have any Witch Hunter? [livejournal.com profile] automatedalice_ was telling me how much she loved that one.

Reviews of Naruto (http://www.deliriumsrealm.com/delirium/reviews/animeview.asp?ID=40), Wolf's Rain (http://www.deliriumsrealm.com/delirium/reviews/animeview.asp?ID=42), and Samurai Deeper Kyo (http://www.deliriumsrealm.com/delirium/reviews/animeview.asp?ID=15)(I like this much better than Rurouni Kenshin and it's also a hell of a lot shorter).

Naruto is my latest anime obsession. You can down load Bit Torrent files of the anime which is fairly new in Japan and the manga is still running strong. It's a well rounded Shonen series and has surpassed DBZ and close to surpassing YYH on my list of the best action anime.

Wolf's Rain I think you'll really like too. It's from the same production team that broughtus Bebop and the Bebop Movie. It's fucking awesome. I risk crashing my computer to get the down loads every week.

Samurai Deeper Kyo, is in the tradition of Kenshin, but a hell of a lot more engaging with a faster pace and cast of cool and shifty characters. No do gooders in this one that's for sure and it's only 26 eps long! ^^

I've yet to check out Witch Hunter.

Yeah, it's upsetting about Witchblade. Although the comic is a great concept it's not a well written title which is why you don't see a lot of fan stuff off the comic and more so off the TV series. TNT gave some lame statement about feeling the show ended fine where it did in season 2. Although the series was good and followed comic canon, there was much left in comic canon to be explored. It's a darn shame. Plus there was shit about Yancy Butler having heroine issues.

I'll try to whip up a package soon, again just gotta get through my last final and then I can veg veg veg!^^

I haven't been that impressed with YYH.

The English dub, although respectable, doesn't do the series justice, but I also have to point out that about 10 of the early chapters of the manga were left out of the anime in order to keep it a completely fighting/action oriented series. Those missing chapters take a lot away from the series and the lead character Yusuke if you've only seen the anime.

Yuppers. Viz picked up the licensing rights, and is releasing YYH in their monthly Shonen Jump magazine which is currently on Volume 6. You can also find the Naruto, Dragon Ball Z, Sand Land, One Piece, and Yu Gi Oh series' in the book.

I've looked at the DBZ manga several times... it's very very close to the anime. At least to start.

Yeah, unlike YYH, scenes were added to the DBZ anime. But a lot of those were Bulma/Vegeta scenes so I'm not gonna complain ;)

Yes, yes, yes, lina-d! "The Dead Zone", while being wholly inadequate as a replacement for what we are losing, is still very worthwhile. I was thinking about it in regard to the "Angel" season finale.

I am fascinated by Johnny Smith's efforts to sort out the information he gets, and I love the ethical elements. Just because he can do something to influence an outcome, should he? Watching him make various little proactive moves, then seeing how he has to assess a radically changed future...it's fascinating. It's not exactly as precise and inevitable as people who believe in absolute destiny might think. It's more of a Mulderesque "universe of infinite possibilities".

I don't know if you've read "To Say Nothing of the Dog" by Connie Willis, but it's a great story about time travel, paradoxes, the implications of altering events, the degree of disorder in the cosmic system.

So, yeah, "The Dead Zone" is a morsel of comfort for me.

My problem with tDZ is that the main actor doesn't spark anything in me. But I could give it another try. That book certainly sounds interesting... I'll always take book recs.

It's quite the gem on cable TV and I wish more people would tune in to watch. Granted it's no Buffy or Angel with the action, but it is engaging, the characters complex and developed and the dialogue quite refreshing. The dynamics between Dana, Sarah, Johnny and Johnny, Sarah, Walt is amazing. Ya Gotta love a ballzy girl like Dana who can call Johnny on his bullshit and still make him a sandwhich. Now that's worth tuning in every Sunday.

Oh, Rashaka, I feel your pain. I got this journal for Buffy too, so's I wouldn't have to spam WBoB with like 20 posts a day. What's gonna happen to all these neat friendships I've accumulated over the past year with all my Buffy Bitches? ::sobs::

Hold me? Oooh, yeah... right there... Oh, sqeeze a little tighter...

LOL, no seriously, I think that for the most part, the Buffy community will stay together for a little while longer, even after the show is gone. Some people will wander away, some people will develop new intersts, but for the most part, our little small group will be together.

Koom Bae Ya, MY LORD, Koom Bae Ya...

I hope so. I'm going to need to read a lot of post-finale fic.
