Give it a few seconds after you follow the link behind this link. You'll understand.

WHY? WHY? Why is that necessary?

*Warning: loss of soul or heart attack is not my responsibility.

EDIT: It's like some sick masochistic urge. I keep going back to the link, watching for a few seconds, then shrieking like a ten year old girl and exiting out the window in a hurry. Make it go AWAY! It's too horrible.

EDIT 2: I wish my parents weren't visiting relatives in Northern California right now. I think I need a hug. From my mom.

On Daleks

So in my recent weeks as a Dr. Who convertee, I've noticed people mentioning they were scared in episodes with Daleks.

I don't see why.

I mean, if you're a little kid, sure, but I'm assuming (based on the fic I read in communities) that most of the people on LJ are teenagers and above. And come on, what's scary about Dalek?

They look like salt and pepper shakers. Or coffee pots. Or this old pop-corn maker we used to have. They got big round ball-shaped thingies around their outer shell, and toilet plungers on their heads. I can see how "EXTERMINATE" is kinda creepy when just one is chasing you like in episode 6 screaming it at you, but a whole crew of them? They just get sillier looking when you increase their numbers.

Just looks funny, to me. Cute and funny evil little things. How they talk is hilarious. They float around or buzz around a room shouting in that ridiculus voice and speech pattern.

Sucking a guy up in a plunger is the ultimate in camp.

I respect that they're this great evil race and they did kill all the Time Lords for which they deserve serious asswhooping because they cause my Doctor pain and made him angst, but "scary"? No.

I've seen scarier looking kitchen appliances.

Now, all that being said, I'm a big fan of theirs as far as campy villains go. Being a veteran of Farscape, I say: Yay for campy villains! And they're Rose/Doctor shippers too, for which you have to give them kudos.

(no subject)

This is weird.

Want to see what Micheal Jackson looks like in anime?

Kinda got a skull face thing going on...

Tenth Doctor Who speculation, unspoiled except for Doctor's casting.

I've been looking at this site which is all about the actor doing the 10th Doctor Who. Mostly I've been looking at pictures.

Hm. He's cute, sure. In a very, very British-looking way. But cute. And youngish too-- not a really old guy or anything, which is a relief. Like the Dr. Who producers realize that the dash of sex appeal they got with Nine was a Good Thing.

But from just looking at pictures... I'm not sure. He looks so different. Kind of...wimpy. Christopher Eccleston's Doctor is physically imposing-- he's tall, and he wears plain black clothing that makes his shoulders look square, and his super-short hair cut and minimalistic style just emphasizes the intimidation factor. Nine's always looked vaguely dangerous, a look that's often balanced (but never completely hidden) by his gleeful smiles and manic behavior. Sure, he's charming, but he also looks kinda like a hitman.

Or to put it another way: this guy looks like he could out-clever you. Eccleston looked like he could out-clever you AND punch your lights out if the first option didn't work.

Looking at this guy... it's hard to imagine this guy as Ten having the same potential intimidation factor that Nine has. Like the Eighth Doctor, he just doesn't look like he could pull off scary. Determined, strong, probably-- but scary as in "I can and will wipe out your entire race because trust me I've done it before"? Not really.

But, there's no point in making presumptions before hand. I've never seen him actually act, so who knows? But just from the pictures, he's looking more like Eight to me.

EDIT: No. Actually...not Eight. He looks more like... "a floppy-haired boy." I think that's what someone on LJ called it once? The kind of guy category that characters like Fox Mulder, Spike (and pre-vamp William), Josh Lyman, and anyone Hugh Grant has ever played fall into. You know, with a certain kind of pout.

Hm. The wait till Christmas is gonna kill me.

I love Joaquin Phoenix's psycho petulant emperor in Gladiator. And Connie Nielsen's dresses.

"Why is he still alive?"
"I don't know."
"He shouldn't be alive. It vexes me. I am terribly vexed."
