Whoa.

Jesus, she's fickle.

And you know what, so is he. What happened to all this "I love Cordy, my best friend, I love her even more than my own son" harping?

If you ever needed more proof that these two don't belong together, look at the end of this episode. Both Buffy and Angel have recently declared either their love or their promise to, to two other people, and they stand in a room together and immediately throw all that away for 3-year old lust. They bring out the pettiest in each other.

I love this episode. I loved the kitchen scene. I was freaked by the promo. I'm tempted to pray for Spike. Which is absurd on two counts: god's not real and Spike's not real. And it's totally shallow that a TV show would tempt me. But also not, because it would be insincere anyway since I already know the fate is decided and filmed and waiting on a shelf in the UPN tech room.

And I'm not going to look at my friends page. I won't. Not for a whole week. I went 19 years without one before and I can go a week without it now, starting tonight. The risks are too high for spoiling.

But that means more of you need to comment here, so I don't feel totally cut-off in my fan anxiety. And if anyone has a great new fic rec, tell me please cause I won't see it for a week.

ETA: I will be however randomly clicking on individual's journals when I need a fix. So I might comment. Just not LJ as a whole.

ITA about the end. When I first heard that DB would be showing up at the end of this season, I imagined some kind of sweet little conversation that would kind of reaffirm the status quo (you know, the whole "still cursed" thing).

This? Nuh-uh. Just comes out of nowhere and doesn't do justice to either character.

Exactly what I thought too. I expected awkwardness. Not this full-on lip thing that makes me go "Huh?" What about Cordy and just losing his SON and him & his friends selling out to Wolfram & Heart-- does none of that matter anymore? Totally cheapens his trials & hardships & actions of the last season.

See my icon. That's me, the little white guy with the horn... driving the interloper (Angel) back into the sea (coastal city) and where he can do no more damage to my people.

Snorting orange juice up the nose in the morning is not pleasant, but it was worth it for that statement.

Angel was snarky, let Buffy fight on her own, and was kind of bouncy. He seemed happy. Did someone brain wipe him? Last episode of Angel he lost his son and Cordy was still in a coma. He was all Captain Broody then and now he's Captain A-Okay! I'm Captain Confused.

There's got to be a reasonable explanation. Aliens, pod people, brain washing, insanity, Buffy was thrown into a wall too many times, the amulet from Lilah is having weird side effects on Angel, or it's all a dream. Yes, a bad dream. Spike is having a bad dream and he's going to wake up in Buffy's bed, with Buffy and they'll be all cuddled up and cute looking because Buffy told Spike that she loved him. And Xander's eye will grow back. And then the show will go on forever, with no one ever aging.

Welcome to denial.

I'm tempted to pray for Spike. Which is absurd on two counts: god's not real and Spike's not real.

Spike's not real?!
Lies, lies, lies! He is real! Spike is r...

oui oui, to all of the above. ALL of it.

Your icon is hot.

And I'm sorry, I take that last part back. Spike's totally real. I don't know what I was thinking. It was the kiss-- it's disturbing imagery completely frelled my brain.

[livejournal.com profile] green_luv made the pretty icon.

Good, I was getting worried for a minute. The kiss, that explains it. I hope your brain is no longer frelled.

Remember, his limo has a mini-bar, and he needed something to do to occupy himself on the way to Sunnydale... *g*

::cackle:: Since it was an evil limo, I bet they had crack too!

Hee! Now it all makes sense.

Well the more I think about it...The darker the place Angel is often means the snarkier and bitcier he gets. He knows he's fucked and he can't be all "boo hoo Buffy" about it cause of the magic. But I thought it kinda sucked that it was all "ladida" but hey continity is for writers who still give a damn.

[identity profile] wickedprincess3.livejournal.com 2003-05-13 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Oopsie! I should elaborate....I meant that know one but Angel knows what happened with Connor. He can't and won't be able to share that with anyone (not that Angel is share boy anyway) So yeah since everything is all magic-ed away is even more alone boy and in a veryveryvery dark place.
ext_10182: Anzo-Berrega Desert (Default)

[identity profile] rashaka.livejournal.com 2003-05-13 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah. Unable to share. therefore must brood more. got it.

is even more alone boy and in a veryveryvery dark place.

Which is why, again, kissing is v. v. bad idea.

[identity profile] wickedprincess3.livejournal.com 2003-05-13 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)
therefore must brood more. got it.
Sometimes he snarks! :) every now and then

And really I think *everyone* on this show needs to step away from eachother and be not with the touchy. TOUCHING BAD. No touchy. Bad things happen you people touch each other.."Seeing Red" "Surprise" ect. You are all too screwed up for touchyness.

Yeah I wasn't cool with the kiss either,

ext_10182: Anzo-Berrega Desert (Default)

Am I flesh to you?!?!?!

[identity profile] rashaka.livejournal.com 2003-05-13 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmm... Think like crazy Spike: "No, NO TOUCHING!"

Less touchy, more talky. Spike & Buffy talked without touching earlier, and it was good. Angel & Buffy touched without talking, and it is bad.

Re: Am I flesh to you?!?!?!

[identity profile] wickedprincess3.livejournal.com 2003-05-13 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I love you Shaka.
Sometimes you just have to listen to crazy Spike.
I have to say that I was *damn* glad the S/B was all talk as touchy would have bothered me. They did touchy and we know how well that worked. So that was nice. The Angel kissage? Blame the girl not my second fave boy...He'd really rather be kissing Spike anyway.

[identity profile] rashaka.livejournal.com 2003-05-13 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Not to put too fine a point on it, we'd all rather be kissing Spike. See icon.

[identity profile] caille.livejournal.com 2003-05-13 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not buying it. The real true accept-no-substitutes Angel showed up? Buffy's perky enough to flirt? Angel's so hunk-dory with his world that he can be cool guy? Isn't he picking out office furniture or something? Buffy/First just happened to cuddle up to Spike when he just happened to be there at the exact right time?

Buffy was having trouble wielding the scythe. Maybe it wasn't supposed to be easy, even if she is "the only one". Or maybe something's all fucked up.

What did Dawn use on Xander? I get it that she would want to be where stuff is happening, but our Dawnie doesn't typically act so fast...she generally has to pitch a hissy fit first.

This is wrong, all wrong. The Buffyverse isn't run by D'Hoffryn, but I feel a bit of "Never go for the kill when you can go for the pain" happening here. Along with a dash of the Aprilbot: "It's always darkest just before...."

Why wouldn't the penultimate ep be the one that shakes us to the core, the one that tries to make us abandon Buffy?

I'm not depressed or pessimistic exactly, but I am having too many thoughts and my brains hurt, and no one is on-line right now. Bleaagh.

But hey, Anya/Andrew?

I'll respond to your smart post more later. for now, I'm also enjoying the Anya/Andrew moment. She referencees Jaws.

"You are the perfect woman."
"I've often thought so."

god's not real and Spike's not real.

Could you prove ether of these two statements in a court of law? You can't run around saying TV chracters are not real people-next you be telling me the muppets are just puppets or something!

I let you off then. Of course I should take offence at the blank statement about the non-existence of divinity, but I can't be bothered. And what good would it do anyone anyway!

Since we'd be arguing about a on-existant thing, none. Plus, it's my journal. ;)

Well I went into this in much greater detail in my LJ which BTW is spoiler free for BtVS but does have some AtS next season info in it so if you're avoiding that don't look.

But essentially, I just couldn't buy the last say ten minutes at all. Neither of the characters felt particularly in character, and it all just seemed really hollow to me. Buffy's fickle as all get out. Angel's all snarky and flippant? WTF? And that kiss was like a 'Gone with the Wind' or something... Oh well. I can't be even upset about it cause, honestly, it just felt so OOC for both of them considering everything MEs spent the past two seasons on both shows building up. Maybe it was a moment of delerium caused by post battle energy.

Oh yeah, and when did Angel get strong enough to knock a bad guy that nobody else has been able to touch clear across the room? That's about as believable as if he'd came waltzing into The Gift and knocked Glory into another dimension. Come to think of it, I think I prefer when Angel's in another dimension when Sunnydale apocolypses go down...

Word. I suggest reading Vrya's reasoning (http://www.livejournal.com/users/vrya/40000.html#cutid1) on the whole situation. Is very enlightening, and of course all speculation, no spoilers.
