I installed Kazaa Lite Codec Pack on my computer. It didn't seem to do anything. So I uninstalled it, then installed Kazaa media desktop. I didn't like it. So I installed Kazaa Lite Codec pack again, hoping that it would do the things it promised in the readme file like give me Kazaa without the pop-up ads and with more bitrate search options, hoping that it would aomehow apply itself to Kazza, maybe.

So far, I don't see that Kazaa lite has had any affect on my computer whatsoever beyond a few more icons, and Kazaa doesn't seem to be worth the time.

I searched for something, and it gave me only a few responses, none of which actually started transfering. All I get is "more sources needed." The same search on WinMX just gave me a nice list of a few hundred results, and I could click and watch it start or be put on a queue list.

Why do people use Kazaa? How do you use it? Is it any fucking good to you, because all its dont' for me was give me ads but not give me any useful results to download.

You know what, I'm just going to uninstall it. I don't need this crap cluttering up my browser.

I love Kazaa Lite. I prefer it much better to WinMX actually. Hmm.

I don't want to insult you or anything but ... are you sure you installed it properly? The installation can be rather confusing. Took me a few times to get it all figured out.

But maybe the program just isn't for you. WinMX might fit all your needs perfectly & that's that. :)

I'm thiunking I might actually have installed the wrong thing. Where did you download it from?

I can't find the site I originally downloaded from but you can download it here (http://www.k-lite.tk/). There's a menu, it says Download -> Kazaa Lite. Viola. :)

That's the website where I got the version that I installed. I followed it to this page:

http://home.hccnet.nl/h.edskes/mirror.htm#klitekpp210b2e

and downloaded "K-Lite Codec Pack 2.03 Basic" which was near the top. Was that the wrong thing?

If you don't have the original Kazaa Lite, then yes. About halfway down the page they have options to download the Kazaa Lite v.2. That's what you need to download.

You've been very helpful; thank you. I downloaded it and it works. I'm confused though, as to why you like it so much. It seems like you get barely any search results, at least compared to WinMX.

Do you know how to adjust the bitrate search?

You might not be finding as much stuff because of the announcement a couple days ago about the RIAA deciding to go after individual users. I've heard a lot of people have pulled their files from the network so they won't be targeted.

I wondered about that. What does RIAA stand for exactly anyway? Record...something...

It's Recording Industry Association of America. Basically the people who control the big labels in this country.

RIAA stands for Recording Industry Association of America :) And you might try SoulSeek (http://www.slsk.org) if Kazaa Lite is still giving you problems. I've been using it for the past few weeks, and it is excellent. Often times songs won't show up in search, but you can put them onto a "wish list" and when the program finds the file for download, the tray icon will light up and let you know! I love it, and have been able to find more "rare" songs than I ever could using Kazaa or IMesh.

Also, I don't think it has ever been mentioned as one of the programs the RIAA is going to hit, so yay!
