riddle me this

I think I'll set aside a little bit of time each day to read the dictionary. Not the whole thing, mind you. And not letters S or R or N, because I'm not a masochist with delusions of grandeur, whatever you might be thinking right now.

More importantly, which dictionary should you use? A shorter so-called pocket-sized one (say 8x6x3") makes the task approachable, but won't contain many interesting words and so it'll be rather dull. A nice two volume 4000 page Shorter Oxford (as mine calls itself) will contain lots of fun words, but reading any letter would be a mammoth undertaking. Either way, however, I recommend starting at the beginning, with A.

I'll be using the New College Edition of the American Heritage Dictionary of the the English Language. It's large and red. I thought about pocket books, but there just aren't any in my house.
