I finally figured out what it is exactly that annoys me about the way Movie!HarryPotter looks.

He's got a bird-face. His nose and mouth are pinched and thin and pointed and he lookes like an ugly bird.

And he's not skinny enough. Harry's supposed to be going around half-starved all the time cause of his evil relatives. This does not look like a kid who survided on left-over lettuce.

I know exactly what you're talking about. One of my class mates looked exactly how I pictured Harry when I was reading the books: black hair; big glasses; skinny, stick-like arms and legs; pale, pale skin...When I went to see the first movie, I was incredibly disappointed by their Harry Potter.

Hagrid, as well. He looks far too clean to be the Hagrid in the books. Those ore not the clothes of a person who lives with, loves, and cares for and works with huge smelly creatures all day, every day!

I expected him to be cuter, frankly. Harry Potter is supposed to be a cute but rather pathetic-looking little kid, who gradually turns into a more confident, cuter, but still somehwat neglected angry teenager.

Hagrid I thoguht they did ok with. He looked basically how I imagined, but I never got overly excited about his casting. I never got overly excited about Hagrid the character at all.

I did like the Hermione casting though. She was the only one who really looked exactly right to me.

I think my main problem is his eyes. I mean, couldn't they have gotten the boy some green contacts? Geez.

*smooch*

what color are the actor's eyes, anyway?

They look quite blue in the movies, and at the very least, gray.

Hm... I think you're right.

You know, I always thought the exact same thing about the actor's non-skinniness. He also seems too confident for someone who's been so abused.

At least in the first two movies, before he gained confidence and began to be able to threaten his family, Harry should have been thin. In the first book he was basically an Oliver-style starving abused orphan.
