Carnivale #3

Just watched episode 3 of Carnivale. God, I'm shaping up to love this show. Besides Angel and West Wing, it's the only thing I'm actively interested right now. In fact, I'm more excited about it than either of those two shows (which is strange, but probably just means that the idea of Spike being back still hasn't sunk in yet, and likely won't until I actually see it.)

Is anyone else watching this? Does anyone think it's really neat shit?

I've got to get some icons. And screen caps. Yeah, I need screen caps. I'm not quite ready for fanfic I think, but icons would be of the good.

I think the only thing that would make me happier about it, at this point, is to hear that Johnny Depp decided to make a guest appearance as a carnivale performer, or that JM was going to join in some task that required he be shirtless and wet to perform.

C'mon, someone else besides me has to have seen this new series.

I've seen it. I really like it so far. Although, I haven't gotten a chance to see episode 3 yet, because I screwed up setting the VCR. But I should be able to catch it later in the week.

And I want to make some Carnivale icons at some point, too. If only I could find screen caps. The cinematography in that show is lovely. It would be fun to make icons from it. :)

I got some sceen caps (many of them are lovely landscape shots) off this site:

I'm hoping more will appear later, seencaps and fansites.

I have no real ship so far, but I like both Sofie (the fortune telling psychic girl) and the main kid, Ben. I'm curious to see how their tentative friendship plays out.

I agree on the cinematography. Even though so many scenes are girtty and dirty, it all has a very artistic feel, and it makes the bits of color (clothing, a field, sky) stand out even more when compared to everything else.

Ooh! Thanks very much for the link. *bookmarks*

I don't really have a ship yet, either. But, it can take me awhile to decide and become attatched. I mean...with Buffy I didn't really ship anyone in the show until season five, when I became obsessed with Buffy/Spike. ^^;

Yeah, you're right the cinematography is sort of gritty, but it fits the themes and time period of the show really well, so it works nicely. And the camera angels and such are well done, too, I think.

Defintiely good camera angles. And the photography and directing style in the dreams is extremely creepy, and weird. I like it, in a morbid way.

I didn't start watching Buffy until season 6 opened, and I started shipping as soon as I saw Afterlife. I fell hard for that ship, and it's still my OTP for the show. For Carnivale, it will take time. It might even lend itself to ships at all, as a show. It's not particularly romantic right now. Though I do find it funny that all the carnie women EXCEPT Sophie want to bed the kid to teach him a thing or two.
