So I'm reading this Draco/Hermione fic and on chapter 7 all I can think is "Okay, when do we get to the snogging part?"

I think Buffy fandom and having more than half my friends list be smut writers has corrupted me.

I'm corrupted forever. I've just started reading the Order of the Phoenix and Harry is taunting Dudley about the size of his wand and already I'm sniggering.

*So* wrong - I mean, it's a children's book - and I blame this online fandom for all of it. ::sigh::

Well, the rule for books is generally chapter ten...try to hold out till then. If there's still no nookie, dump it and pick up some badfic. There'll be snogging before the first paragraph is over, I guarantee.

Not that I read badfic myself, mind you, or ever recommend it. But what is it about HP fandom that seems to attract all that crowd?

The very first long HP fic I read was 16 chapters long (loooong chapters)and well written with great sexual tension and when it finally got to the sex ... it was a fade to black. And, like I said, it was my first long HP fic, coming straight from BtVS fandom. I actually emailed the author telling her it was a great fic, but complained that there was no sex. I think I said "There was so much lead up and it's a great story, but the sex is *expected*. It's like ... *owed*!" I feel so badly. I should write her back and apologize. I read it at FA, and I didn't realize they didn't archive NC-17, or I would have been forewarned.

But now I am happy with a nice, long, PG-13 no-snogging-til-the-end fic. *nod* HP fandom has made me grow as a reader! *snerk*
