Is "The Golden Compass" part of the His Dark Materials series?

If it is, then I've read some of that. And it is better written than HP.

Those books are amazing and very sadly underestimated. I've been trying to convince my sister to read them for years ...

Just to disagree with everyone, while there well written I don'tthink they are that fantastic.
They jjst retell the story from paradise lost (as even the author admits). I think there is better YA stuff out there.

I've never read Paradise Lost, either.

Have you ever read the Everworld books by K.A. Applegate? I liked them, read like 5 in a rush before I got tired and went to something else.
