It was great!

He picked me up. I offfered to meet him, and he insisted that he wasn't that far away and it'd be easy to pick me up. To me, that said "DATE!" instead of friendly stuff, so I said sure.

We went for sushi. He's very sweet, and, I noticed, a neat eater. Which probalby means that if he ever saw my room, he'd never go out with me again for the mess.

We chatted. It was good. He's cute. In having a long time to look at him without being thrown on the ground (aikido class), I got to examine his face a lot. He's cute, in this way that shouts "I'm mildly cute now, but I'm going to be very very cute in ten years." Facial structurely, anyway.

When the conversation would lull, one of us would pick it back up. He's a little bit softspoken, but the restaurant was loud, and I'm told I am often too anyway.

We talked about japanese food, and chopsticks, and anime, and film, and anime again, and manga, and a smidgen about school. In the car on the way there we talked about places we'd been outside of the US. He's been to France, Holland, and England: I've been to Canada and Mexico. He's a California native.

We talked about trading various things of anime (though now I'm thinking: wouldn't it be better to watch them together instead) and what we liked /didn't like about various shows.

We talked about maybe going someplace after eating (it was jsut after 9:00), but neither of us could think of anything to do, sadly.

And now the important part... when the dinner bill came, I didn't even notice at first, because I was talking and he kind of had it quietly near his elbow. But I did, and asked how much it was. He said "Zero." I was prepared for this! I said, "Ok, well, you have to let me buy you dinner next time." He said, "Fair enough."

On the way home our conversation topics ran a bit dry, but it was ok, it wasn't a bad thing. This was my first official "date" where I go out to dinner with a guy, and I wasn't sure whether he was liking me, or finding things to be annoyed about. He seemed to be enjoying himself, but I'm a bit nervous. When he dropped me off, I got out and said, " Well, I have your number, and you have mine, so I'll be talking to you soon." He said he had fun. I said me too.

I'm nervous, but kind of cheerful too. As a first date, I think it went well, though I have no experience to judge it by. I did get the distinct impression that he had been on dates before. It's hard to say why, because it was all his mannerisms, not anything verbal, but I definitely thought so.

There you have it. Shaka's first official date. Two thumbs up on a good time had.

Wee! Congrats. It sounds very promising, indeed.

And he likes sushi! You'd better snatch him up before I track down his address and steal him myself! ;)

So, when do you see him next, dating or otherwise? And how will that meeting go? That's the true test, I believe.

Congrats, again!

ironaically, neither of us actually had sushi. He had mackeral (by the japanese name for it), terriyaki beef, and tempura. I had tempura, terriyaki chicken, and terriyaki beef. That's ok, cause I'm not a big sushi fan.

We haven't made an official second date yet, but I did get him to agree to letting me buy next time, so that means there will be one. I'm thinking, maybe something during the day. Maybe Tuesday; I'm not working then.

Hee. As for the icon, what do you say we trade? I would love to be able to use your Jack default icon,, if you don't mind.

My Spuffy icon (that is the one you're asking about, right?) was made by [livejournal.com profile] vehiclesshockme, and all she asks is that you credit her in keywords. Who made your Jack icon?

Good luck on Tuesday! (And yes--Tuesdays are now something to look forward to, again!)

Cheers!

OH!

You made it? I love it! Awesome job--I really love how you matched the mood of the cap to the text, and I *love* how you've divided the text in the animation. Wonderful.

THANK YOU!

the animation was better with at least one more slide, preferrably two, but I liked the pic so much I didn't want to downsize quality but adding more slides. I'm glad you liked it though!

The actual picture cut off right about where hid forehead meets the bandanna; I had to edit that in, and then edit in more sky. I did that on a larger pic, and blurred a lot, so that when it was shrunk it looked smooth. I'm overall very pleased; I think i'll put the base up later.

the text is from a poem called "Sea Fever" by John Masefield. It's one of my all-time favorite poems:

I am squeeing for you and your good first date.
First date's are important and if it's a good one you are very very lucky.

So YAY!

thank you! I'll take your squee and treasure it.

When you said it was your first date, I got instantly parental and squee-d a lot and went all proud. It's been far too long since I've been on a date, I think ;)

Glad to hear it went well! The 'zero' thing was excellent. I give him full points for that.

You realise now I'm going to expect full details of future dates, right? ;)

Yep! And because he's an anime fan and a computer science major, i'm ssooooooo tempted to say "do you have a livejournal?" But then I'd have to friend him, because it'd be rude otherwise, and then I couldn't keep talking about him like this! And I need the records, for posterity.

[identity profile] scarlettfish.livejournal.com 2003-12-15 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
You could filter him out when it's time for posts about him. That way we could still have the records. We need them! ;)
