So as I said before, I've been rereading Wizard & Glass...

I was standing in the bathroom, inhaling cough syrup (not a minute after having just flushed the toilet with a jug of water-- how charming it is that our toilet pipe is broken), when a thought occured to me that freaked me out profoundly for the briefest moment:

OMG, what if people are writing Eddie/Roland slash?!?!

You know, in the years since I discovered that fans often wrote yaoi or yuri or slash fanfic for characters that weren't canonically homosexual-- all after I read the second Dark Tower book--- that never once occured to me. It seems as obvious an "unconvential canon pairing" for fanfic as Sam/Frodo or Aragorn/Legolas, and it hadn't even occurred to me before. Probably because looking for Dark Tower fanfic had never occured to me before this year. Still haven't done that, either.

Then I shrugged and thought, Whatever.

I can live with Eddie/Roland slash. I just hope nobody is writing Jake/Roland, or Jake/Bumbler slash...

Oh! I just had the same thought as I was re-reading The Drawing of the Three a week or so ago. There was some close moment between Eddie and Roland and I thought "Whoa! HoYay!" For the first time ever. It kind of freaked me out at first, then I realized that there's some amazing potential there--you could get some *brilliant* fic out of that relationship.

Come to think of it, I can see Roland/Eddie, and I can see Roland/Cuthbert even more. (IMO Cuthbert meant more to Roland than Susan ever did, whether the relationship was sexual or not.)

I might have to look into this further.... I've never read Dark Tower fic, but it could be good.
