This is a good meme. I'd love it if you participated! :)

I know very little about some of the people on my friends' list. Some people I know relatively well. I read your fic, or we have something else in common and we chat occasionally. Some of you I hardly know at all. Perhaps you lurk, for whatever reason. But you friended me and I thank you.

But here's a thought: why not take this opportunity to tell me a little something about yourself. Any old thing at all. Just so the next time I see your name I can say: "Ah, there's so and so...she likes spinach."

I'd love it if every single person who friended me would do this. Yes, even you people who I know really well. Then post this in your own journal.

I'll bring over what I wrote back when I did this meme, though the flip-flop number have been updated (it was 8 back then *g*):

1. I can copy pretty much everyone else's handwriting.
2. I have deja vu's on a daily basis, some that lasts for an annoyingly long time, that includes the "I'm having a deja vu and saying I'm having it is still a deja vu" part of it.
3. I'm left handed, but I play the guitar like a right handed person.
4. I don't drive because I don't want to learn how to.
5. I hate fresh tomatoes, but I love dried ones.
6. Most of my dreams, ever since I was 13, are water-related. Ocean, rain, shower, pool, glass of water, it's always there.
7. I hate jeans and avoid them as much as possible.
8. High School was a wondeful time for me.
9. I have an unexplained fear of those gigantic, rotating brush thingys they have in car washes.
10. I currently own 10 pairs of flip flops, but I've been known to have over 15.

I do to. It's pretty mild now, but I used to get freaked for the first 5 seconds in car washes, when I was little. I still am jumpy inside them.

I hate fresh tomatoes, but I love dried ones.

Ah. That's interesting. I love both. The smell of a fresh tomato is one of my favorite smells.

Hmm. Well, I'm 34, 5'4", 165lbs +/- 10lbs, I dye my hair with natural henna (which looks like goose poop and smells like wet hay but does wonderful things for my hair). I wear my hair shoulder length, but not much longer because it's too thin to look good longer. I have a nose piercing and two tattoos. My cuticles are ratty and my nails short. I have a scar on my right thumb from where I stuck my hand in a deli slicer. I still have henna crescents on my toenails from where I had my feet done over Labor Day weekend. I wish I could have my hands hennaed all the time. I don't express myself visually enough. Hell, I don't express myself creatively enough. And then I wonder why I feel creatively stunted.

Hmm. Oh yes, and I prefer vanilla to chocolate. And my current fave drink is Chai-Cider from Oregon Chai. With Tuaca. Yum.

Um, well..
I am absolutely terrified of birds (mostly pigeons, ducks and geese, but any old bird can freak me out). I don't mind if they are flying about in the wild, as long as they DON'T come near me, and I truly dis-like caged birds.

I love mint-chocolate chip ice cream and rarely order anything else.

I have this pipe-dream of someday writing the play/screenplay that has been floating in my brain for several years now, but I'm still too terrified to actually begin putting the words on paper.

Don't watch that Hitchcock movie!

[identity profile] deaver.livejournal.com 2004-01-08 09:56 am (UTC)(link)
Was forced to watch it with a group of friends in college, still MASSIVELY tramatized. The scary thing is that I live 20 minutes from where it was filmed, and everytime I drive out the ocean I drive by the church and school (which still look nearly identical to the movie), and I get a little squeemish. Tend to drive faster than necesarry to avoid any possibility that the story might come to life. *grin*

It's pretty freaky; I watched it at around 14, so I was young but not too young. Then, one time a few months later, I'm in the grocery store parking lot waiting in the car while my dad gets us donuts in the morning, and there's fog everywhere. So the birds were doing what they normally do-- gathering in large groups on cars and fences.

All.around.me.

I was kinda jittery by the time my dad came back.

I have never smoked a cigarette, partaken of an illegal drug (except through second-hand smoke), gotten high, or had a hang-over. In other words, I'm a complete goody-two-shoes when it comes to substances.

Sex, on the other hand, is a completely different matter. ;)

:g:

I've never done any of those either. But I think that's because I go to a JC (not a university), had tame high school friends, am not legal yet for hangovers. I think the hangover one is the only one I'll try. When I was put under for oral surgery and having my wisdom teeth removed, I woke up and immediately (between barfing and watching the world spin without my permission and kind of blend together) began going, "Oh. I hate this. I'm never getting high. I'm never taking recreational drugs. I'm never taking recreational drugs. I'm never taking recreational drugs." I said it to the nurse, and my mom, at least twice each.

Hmm, what should I say...Everyone seems to find this one interesting!: For as long as I've been able to remember my dreams, I've remembered them in negative colors, like you would see on film negatives. It actually looks sort of like the trance-state that Buffy goes through in "No Place Like Home."

oooh... that's neat! very, very weird and interesting. I have two things like that I should have mentioned in my other comment, I guess. One is that I've never had a brain freeze. Instead of brain freezes I get stabbing pain in the center of my back, as if someone has knifed me between the shoulderblades. Hurts like hell for a few seconds, sometimes as much as 5. My dreams are pretty much like other people's I guess... but when I was little I used to draw pictures from a bird's eye view. In places where there weren't actual birds-- like an image of our dinner table, or a classroom, stuff like that.

was born dead because of the umbilical cord around my neck (thru c-section); because of a german great-grandfather on my dad's side I have mousy-brown hair. I have an prediliction for men with goatees (xanatos was my first cartoon crush) and long hair, so it's probably a good thing that I'm going to Berkeley...

oh my god-- you're going to berkeley? Right NOW?

I applied there for fall 2004! It's my first choice! [livejournal.com profile] girlwithjournal was going there too, assuming she hasn't transfered.

I'm gald that they made you alive again. That's good.

hee! I've met her before at a party, it was totally random as *anything* because I was going for a friend, but [livejournal.com profile] girlwithjournal was her roommate of all things. However, I didn't know [livejournal.com profile] girlwithjournal at ALL before the party, but [livejournal.com profile] adrienne2 and I did a "Waaaaaait you're...but...you're a fan?!" thing and she introduced me to [livejournal.com profile] girlwithjournal. We kinda lost touch after that though and PotC fandom kinda collasped in on itself slightly...

Gah! I hope I get to go there. Not just for educational reasons, but so I can meet people like you! I love meeting fans anyway; I'd think it would be doubly cool to meet someone you already knew from something like LJ.

I can hazard a guess that this might be because it's a movie, and thus a lack of new material? At least until the sequel...

hee!! I'll be glad to show you around and stuff if you do decide to come!

maybe...there was a slight revival with [Bad username or site: circe_tigana's @ livejournal.com] 882 pieces challenge, but I don't know how many of the old writers were aware of it...

::sighs happily::

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I love your background.

Ummm, something about me. I have a laptop, so basically I can e-mail from wherever I want; however, I invariably end up working on the computer while reclining and the foot of my bed. A holdover, I suppose of Sophomore year at college, when my room was so small I was forced to move my bed on top of my desk in order to make room for my mini-fridge. So my bed literally was my desk, and no I can't do work anywhere else, even though I do now have a perfectly good desk that I can, in fact, see from where I'm lying right now.

That good? :)

That's wonderful. Except- doesn't it hurt your back to hunch over a laptop on your bed?

[identity profile] bathsweaver.livejournal.com 2004-01-08 07:16 am (UTC)(link)
Nah--see, I recline. You know those wedge-shaped pillows? I have one of those, so I lie down on my left side and prop it under the crook of my left shoulder. Then I can do all my typing with my laptop situated nest to me on the bed. That make sense? It's really very comfy.
