I am really diggin' the song "Such Great Heights" by the Postal Service; I've heard it on the radio a few times and it's just one fo those songs where you start smiling while you're listening to it.

Anyone have that albm already and want to tell me if it's any good, or offer up an MP3?

The lyrics read just just like a poem, don't they?

"Such Great Heights"

I am thinking it's a sign that the freckles
In our eyes are mirror images and when
We kiss they're perfectly aligned
And I have to speculate that God himself
Did make us into corresponding shapes like
Puzzle pieces from the clay
True, it may seem like a stretch, but
Its thoughts like this that catch my troubled
Head when you're away when I am missing you to death
When you are out there on the road for
Several weeks of shows and when you scan
The radio, I hope this song will guide you home

They won't see us waving from such great
Heights, 'come down now,' they'll say
But everything looks perfect from far away,
'come down now,' but we'll stay...

I tried my best to leave this all on your
Machine but the persistent beat it sounded
Thin upon listening
That frankly will not fly. you will hear
The shrillest highs and lowest lows with
The windows down when this is guiding you home

i have the album

and i offered up a cover of that song by a labelmate - Iron and Wine (i think they're on the same label) for my get recced a while back. :)

You;ve just inspired me for my next get recced, though, so thanks!

:)

get recced?

I'm glad to hear the album is good! I don't suppose you'd rip that song for me... ::makes big, tear-y, anime eyes:: ::pouts::

i do this thing...

called Get Recced, where I post a couple of songs or whatever that I think are really cool and good or I'm obsessing about month to month. I even have a special icon for it, I'm such a dork.

But yeah, I did a get recced for January, and it's here.

I also have the album, and agree with [livejournal.com profile] crushw_eyeliner, it is AMAZING. When I put it in, I can't stop listening to it all day. If you'd like to sample a couple of the other songs on it, let me know and I will upload & post some for you. :)

I have no idea what else is on the album... why don't you show off the ones you like best? :)

:) Alrighty! I couldn't really pick any favorites (it's too hard!) so I just upload a couple random ones. Check my LJ for the links!

that is too damn creepy for my blood.

i had never heard of this song in my life. till today - when my friend rex had the first three lines as the intro to his AIM away message. and now it's in your journal.

CREEPY.

eerie, yes.

You wanna know something eerier?

About two weeks ago I was in the living room, having a conversation with my dad who was sitting on the opposite couch. In the conversation he looked at the tv controller sitting next to me, and said "Hand me that controller," then goes on to finish his point.

So I tossed it to him across the room. Then he looks at it and says "Why did you give me this?"

I said, "Because you asked for it." ::a bit confused::

He then goes onto to have a 5 minute back and forth conversation with me wherein he swears that he did no such thing. He says he thought about it, but certainly didn't say it.

::shrug::

and the really crappy part is, you'll never know who was right.

I know! He coudl be messing with me, or he could have not realized he said it, or I could have imagined it because I saw his eyes move to the controller, or one of us could be psychic (receiving or projecting.) Very confusing.
