timepiececlock: (Spike Spiegel walking in)

random man's upper body without clothing. Blatant objectification of human body ahead.

[livejournal.com profile] girlwithjournal expressed some doubt of the idea that Adrien Brody could play the part of Spike Spiegel of Cowboy Bebop, on account of Mr. Brody being "too delicate."

This is what I say to that:

Mmmmmmm. I had to cap those from a rather poor quality Quicktime trailer for the movie Affair of the Necklace, where there is much sexyness in late-18th-century period clothing, since I don't own the movie. Then again, I haven't installed my DVD-rom yet so it's not like I could make good caps even if I did own the movie, but here ya go.

These pics aren't as good as the bathtub scene, though, where he stands up all wet, and you wonder how someone with that nice pecs has the most narrowly toned waist you've ever seen on a guy. It's a fascinating combination.

Why should he be Spike Spiegel? Because he's tall, lanky, has a face that actually kinda looks like the character's (rare with anime), has the right skin/hair coloring for it, and he's a great actor with an statue to prove it.

He is so Spike Spiegel.

::glomps you::

He is. Oh, he is. Have you seen Affair of the Necklace? I saw that (well, the latter 2/3 of it anyway) before I saw The Pianist, so this is my mental impression of him, rather than that of the starving shivering war victim. And I like this version better.

Not only does he look like him, both facially and in his tall and lanky body shape, but he's an oscar-winning actor too! He's the one I want. My opinions on all the others could be swayed, but in this I am firm. There's no one better.

Hmmm...looks like he has boobs. ::blinks:: Sure, a very small cup, but hey.

I saw Affair of the Necklace awhile back. It was the first movie I ever saw Adrien Brody in and he was just...guh. Hot. I could definitely see him as Spike Spiegel.

It was the first movie I saw him in too. My memory always goes back to the bathtub scene. ::drools:: And all that horse-riding was sexy too.

I think Adrien's mad at me for speaking against him 'cause I can't get the picture to load. But I will rent AotN - promise. =)

Ack! ok, go here:

And while you're there, you can download the songs that I was going to put in my journal later.

Wah...he just doesn't do it for me. It might be the nose (I think noses are very important).

I plan to steal your songs as soon as I get home, however.

He kind of selectively does it for me. I didn't think he was attractive at all in The Pianist, even before he was starving and unshaven. But I really liked him in AotN (you should still watch that movie even if he doesn't do it for you! It's good), and I am really attached to him as the idea of Spike.

Well, then I hope you get him - someone deserves some happiness in this area. ::still crying over Keanu Reeves as John Constantine::

[identity profile] ipomoea.livejournal.com 2004-02-17 07:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I could totally see that.

We should all get together and petition someone to make it a movie so that we could see him do it. ::drools::

More pressingly, isn't he know dating Keira Knightly?
The Bastard!

Really? Good for her. Good for him.

How old is Knightly anyway? She was supposed to be 18 in PotC but I thoguht she looked about 23. Adrien Brody was born in 1973or 1974 or something, which makes him about 30 which would be just fine for playing Spike, who is 27.

[identity profile] mrthursday.livejournal.com 2004-02-19 12:48 am (UTC)(link)

Oh yes! Good for them!
(what you can hardly expect enhtusiams. My poor celebrity crushes are all I have nowadyas!).

I believe she is about 19-20, but different sources give her age differently.
