My dad just called me out of my room to show me an article he'd located about Universal Studios picking up the Firefly movie. And then he showed me a website messageboard, with a quote from Joss Whedon to fans. And he was listening to an interview with the Firefly cast & crew from a con, in the background.

He even referred to Joss by his first name. FIRST NAME!

I am *so* proud.

Shaka: This is... awesome. You're like, my protege into internet fandom! Yay!

My dad notices me standing by him preening. Like a happy happy cat.

ShakaDada: *slightly ruffled by my obvious preening** You better be enjoying this because this is probably the only night I'll ever look at this stuff.

Shaka: Oh, I am. I am.

Yeah, right. Remember...FIRST NAME JOSS FAN! He'll be in the closet for a while, but I think he's hooked.

He called him Joss. I am so proud.

Sounds like the beginning of the end to me. What did Joss say about the movie? I'll tell my mom! She'll be all excited... BWA! Converting parents to fandom is fuuuuuun. Though siblings are better. ;)

i had similar moments when i brought my firefly dvds over for my mom and bro to watch.

after watching, both mom and bro were cursing fox.

the most shining moment came when my mom turned to me and asked hopefully, "so... is there maybe any... um... firefly fanfic out there? maybe?"

We've been renting the discs from Netflix.com.... after each viewing there' this sort of collective sigh from my parents and me, and we all go "I really liked this show..." "I know." "...I want more!" "I know."

They haven't asked me for fanfic yet. But my dad's discovering messageboards so it will probably happen one day!
