Hee! I always thought I was the only one who did that. I think it might be related to the fact that I've always adored horses, and they reminded me of jumping fences while riding. /is geek

I jump telephone poles more than shadows... I thought that I was the only one too!

Yup, I do that too. I am so OCD it isn't funny.

Our numbers are rising! I jump the shadows of trees mostly, and telephone pole shadows. But the principal is the same. This is cool. I'm not alone in my quirks! ::cheers::

I've done it ever since I was tall enough to sit in the front seat of a car, and I've never done jumping with horses. I've been on little horse rides, but never jumping and never more exciting than a light canter. Girl scout camp had stupid safety rules. ::pout::

A few months ago I was in the passenger seat of the car talking to my mom, and I asked her if she thought the lines of the crop fields looked like run rays as you passed them. She said yep. I then asked her if she liked to concentrate on one roadside tree as it slowly approached and watch it whisk by and disappear really fast. She said yes. Then she asked me if I jumped over the shadows on the road, and I said "uh...yeah, I do."

It was kind of one of those moments when you realize how much alike a parent you are. I had never mentioned that weird thought passtime to anyone, or had anyone mention it to me, but I automatically knew exactly what she was talking about, and had to agree that I did.

It's nice to know we're not alone! I'm curious to see how many other people fill out the poll. I didn't want to explain it too much, because I figured anyone who did it would get it. And you did-- it's a lot like jumping fences, actually. Though I had never used that analogy myself. I'm a "must jump over the blackwater lava" person. :g:

I used to do this all the time. I would jump not only shadows, but nearly everything I could see. It was alot of fun. Also? I'd imagine a galloping sound in my head. Hee. I still do it every now and then.

So you still have a piece of my brain after all, huh?

It's interesting that you also connect it with horseriding kind of jumping, like [livejournal.com profile] buffyx. For me it's jumping just by my feet. Imaginations are strange and interesting things. :)

I generally only jump stuff when I'm in the passenger seat, and then it's usually everything we pass. I tend to preface each one with "...now!" Or I try and do in time with the music.

More spare time that way, yeah.

Or I try and do in time with the music

Never done that. But I do rock back and forth on my breaks to music when I'm at a stop light.
