The Pillows

... are a Japanese band. More specifically, they're the band that provided the music of FLCL, or Fooly Cooly.

I happened to have my FLCL burned soundtrack in my truck when I was driving my Uncle Kerry and his son Josh around a few days ago, in Oregon. Family reunion, remember.

My uncle went bonkers over the music. He loved it. He used to play guitar and drums for several years, so he's a music buff. And he said he'd even heard of their name (but never heard their actual music). That kinda surprised me because I had never heard of The Pillows until I watched FLCL and got interested in the music.

I know why he likes it though-- I adore it myself. It's so singable, even though I don't speak Japanese so I'm probably not singing it right. And the instrumental stuff too, where there's nothing to sing... I love it so much.

I think sometime soon I'll put up a few of their songs for LJ, vocal and instrumental.

Ah, I *heart* the Pillows. A big Fooly Cooly friend of mine has their cd and we jam to it in his car all the time. Looks funny to people on the outside of the car because we're wailing on air guitar and mumbling Japanese lyrics.

I've never heard their music, but I've heard a lot about them. I keep meaning to get something of theirs, but I always forget to. What type of music is it?

mostly guitar stuff... kind of rock/pop/punk sounds, but with some other more mellow stuff done specifically for the soundtrack. mostly rock/pop/punk though. you'll like it when I post some.
