A minor FMA shipper rant

I've got this urge to write a really angsty Ed/Winry fic where Ed leaves and comes back and BOOM! Winry has gotten married and lived happily in the interim. To someone else.

Because I really hate all those Ed/Winry fics where Ed turns into his father and Winry waits on and off for years like a "patient little wife." Let's get real here, people. Winry would get tired of waiting as she grows up because we know she's not that passive a person, and the last thing Ed wants to to treat Winry the way his father treated his mother. He wouldn't allow them to have a relationship like that.

So either Winry would leave her business and her home and follow him around like a partner, which I don't see happening (Winry is not Hawkeye) or Ed would simply tell her not to wait for him.

Which, now that I think about it, makes that whole fic idea of him waiting for her and coming back to find her gone to be unnecessary. Also? I'm thinking Ed's not really into Winry seriously.

Maybe I'm just a closet Al/Winry shipper. Because I really see Al as more the settle-down type.

Gah... when will episode 50 be subbed already? I'm trying so hard to avoid spoilers but they're all around me!

I'm all for the Al/Winry shipping. I think Al would be the bestest daddy ever.

He would. He would be a total sweetie. Not that Ed also wouldn't be sweet with children (I think he would, based on how strongly he felt for Nina and his reactions to Rose's baby), I think Al just seems more the type to be happy with a stationary family life. I think he also likes adventuring around with Edward and seeing other places and people (he always gets along with the locals better than Ed), but he could be equally happy with either life-- the road or the home. Edward might settle, but methinks he'd settle at 35, not 25.

That's because Ed tends to be a bit spazzy and Al, totally contrasting his brother, is very calm and polite. *g*

Ed is way too focused on the mission to even think about a family life.

hey, a question

where did Rose's baby come from? I had thought she'd just had a relationship with someone and he'd been killed when her town was raided, but then I read someone say she was raped by a soldier. I can't remember; is that what happened? I remember the scene with her trapped with the kids but I never connected that scene to the baby.

She was involved with someone who got killed. Remember the giant bird chimera?

I think she was raped. It wasn't said outright, but it was alluded to.

How long is it inbetween Ed first visit to Lior and his most recent? The baby looks too young to have been from her and her boyfriend.

I meant after the giant bird.

Ah. See, that messes up my mental timeline a little bit. ::mentally adjusts::

It probably wasn't from her boyfriend, because it was also alluded that she had been waiting a while for his "resurrection", at least a month I'd guess.

But I just supposed that we didn't know about her babies father because it wasn't necessary-- it was just a "time passing, see how things have changed" thingy. At first I thought it wasn't even hers, it was a war orphan she had taken on (with the timeline it never occurred to me at all that she might have been pregnant, given birth, and had an infant that looked at least two or three months old.)

But I guess I could always rewatch it and look for more clues. I sort of watched 26-43 in one long clump over two weeks so I might have missed out on random bits of subtlety.

ACK! It's finished downloading!

::nervous:: I don't wanna watch....but I do... but I don't...
