An anime-sharing community sounds like an awesome idea, and I would totally join if you started one. It'd give me something to do with all the stuff that's sitting around gathering (metaphoric) dust on my harddrives.

Alright. I started one. And I'd like your help figuring part of the technical details out. The community is

sneezeanime. Go there, and request to join. I'll add you, and when I do add you, comment somewhere there or here tell me if you can see the 3 entries I currently posted. Then, post a practice entry where you just say hi or something. I'm going to approve that, and see if it automatically friends-locks the post, or if that's something I have to do myself. I want to make sure every entry is friends-locked, and make sure that members can see the friends locked posts.

Could it be possible to give the community a suitably innocuous name (so it can be recognized for what it is from the name alone) and then set it to friends-only and only allow people to join & share whom you're well aquainted with? Is it possible for an LJ community to work that way? If not, I know for certain that Yahoo!Groups can be set-up so that all members wishing to join have to apply to you the moderator, and you can deny anybody you want. So nobody would be able to know what was going on within the group. Yahoo! probably has policies against ep-sharing, though...

Well, I can certainly set it to moderated joining. That's what

teh_music did, and they've now closed their membership. I like the idea of an innocuous name. How about...sneezeanime? Like that anime in-joke where a character sneezes when someone is talking about them behind their back. Yeah. I like that.

Sneezeanime. heh. Kawaii! :) If you used the moderated joining thing, and were careful about who you let in, I think it could work, but it's still going to be a risk for you. You can limit your exposure, of course, but there's still the possibility that somebody will find out, and if they do, unpleasantness could come of it.

Yeah. I've made it, and I'm experimenting with it right now to see how everything works. When I've got it how I like it, I'll send out invites to the people on my flist and stuff. I'm going to moderate admisssion and mod-approve posts, at least at first.

I've uplaoded FMA 1-10 on my LJ, and episode 11 was just today uploaded to

Full Metal Alchemist? or Princess Tutu? Both are awesome. And crackish.

FMA. Where did you get it all--(you do realize that if you have pushed me into another fandom I'll never let up)? God, it's amazing.

I got it all from downloading. I downloaded the first 40 or so episodes in a rush (I saw 1-15 at a con and fell madly in love and in crack), and watched the first 25, or season 1. Then I waited for

octopedingenue to catch up. Then we were both caught up and downloaded them as they were released in Japan-- a few days after it first aired, the fansub would pop up on the net. So we were watching the last 10 or so episodes as they were released, once a week. You don't know pain until you're limited to one episode a week of FMA, just when the storyline is building to a finish in the final episodes. That's PAIN.

If you think it's amazing at just those early eps, you don't know what you're in for.

I would never push you into a fandom I couldn't supply you with from start to finish? What kind of pimp do you take me for? I treat my addicts well. You will be supplied. Just as fast I as I can upload them. Which will take a while over 51 episodes.

Anyway, I wanted to tell you that if you want I'll mirror every episode you upload so that others can have access to them too.

Let me explain something about FMA: it's all in the surprise. Literally. You don't want to know ahead of time. It just KILLS the emotional shock value and plot reveals. Shiver with anticipation. I'll be trying to upload them fairly swiftly, so try to contain yourself and WHATEVER YOU DO STAY AWAY FROM FANFICTION. IT WILL SPOIL YOU SILLY.

You're welcome. And I i know what you mean about expectations. But so far, you've demonstrated no such behavior. :)

I'm just one of those people that loves to gush aobut things i love, and loves to share them with others. If I love a show, I don't keep it to myself or feel burned when it becomes "mainstream"... the more people love the show I love, the happier it makes me. So I love sharing anime with others.

You know, I really do prefer the sub for this anime. For some reason, the voice acting of the Japanese seiyuu works for me a lot better than the dub. Thank you for posting these.

I've gotten used to the dub over a prolonged amount of exposure. Certain characters, like Roy, Hughes, Lust, and Scar I *love* in English, other characters like Al and Hawkeye I like, but the rest I've had to get used to over time. Edward's been the most awkward for me to acclimate to.
