VERONICA MARS, BITCH!

Okay, even though I'd been successfully converted to Veronica/Logan over the last month or two, I swear to god I didn't think it'd be canon for, like, A YEAR. Or more. If the show wasn't cancelled first.

But, wowsers. I totally didn't see that coming. I mean, I did in the moment, once they started staring at each other all GoneWithTheWind-like, but not in the general overall sense of seeing it coming.

Just... wowsers.

That rescue was so... heartfelt. Good for Logan. And how the hell did he FIND her, anyway? That speaks even better of him. But you know the best? That he called her to warn her about Duncan knowing. That's a small, unnecessary thing that didn't come as an easy heroic act, but some attempt at kindness that he made without provocation.

Poor Leo. Poor Weapons-guy. Weapons-guy's earnestness was sweet. I probably would'a gone out with him...but then again I also have a thing for swords and old weapons and...yeah. Anyway.

Wallace! And Wallace's mom! ::head bursts::

Jeez, they really packed in the surprises with this episode. Including the fact that Jonathon Taylor Thomas is now ugly. Wow.

About Duncan. It was really weird how Veronica gave that story about the guy disappearing. The delivery was weird. At first I thought it was some kind of message to Duncan about something she'd discovered... but I guess it was just meant to be an awkward moment and Veronica floundering for a topic. I wonder if Logan's telling him about the files is what had Duncan all upset, or if it was something else.

Poor Meg. She really was the rebound-- and she deserves better.

Anyway...OMGWTFkissing?!.

I have to know what song was playing in that scene. I liked it. I wanna hear it again. Thank you [livejournal.com profile] saava

I need fic like whoa.

hi, did you remember posting 50 odd screencaps of SamChamp 26 in [livejournal.com profile] _champloo? Well, eh..i have made a simple layout (http://rukia.org) out of them. Just would like you to know that~ since you were the one to have captured them and all. You're credited too(hope you don't mind this too)~

::pout:: Oh, I can't see the layout... it all looks black except for the chibi character.

Thank you for informing me. It's out of your way and not necessary (I just captured the images, didn't alter or make them), but kudos to you for just general extra niceness. :)

Lol... i think that because i have yet to place up the site due to some unorganised flow chart planning. Will be up by 16.

Well, i didn't take the screencaps, so i thought it would not be right to not say a thing.

For the way he's handled a canon 'ship so far, I love Rob Thomas like I love Jane Austen and Dorothy Sayers. Logan/Veronica is right up there with Elizabeth/Darcy and Peter/Harriet in my personal pantheon of amazingly well written characters having amazingly well written relationships that just feel so real and true.

That rescue was so... heartfelt. Good for Logan.

To paraphrase Wallace's quote about Veronica: Beneath Logan's angry boy exterior, there's a slightly less angry boy who's just dying for somebody to bake him something. He wants to enjoy loyalty and warm baked goods, and later be a hero.

I thought it was sweet that Veronica saw his rescue attempt for the heartfelt (perfect word for it, rashaka!) gesture that it was, and appreciated that. In the end, she didn't need rescuing, but she's secure enough that she didn't need to go all feminazi and tell him how completely worthless his help was.

How much do I love these two crazy kids?

Lots 'n' lots!

And how the hell did he FIND her, anyway? That speaks even better of him.

I got the impression se was still listening in when she deliberately said the name of the motel they were driving to.

I really wish I could have seen how the Claire/Trevor relationship would have developed.

Ahh, the cell phone was on. I forgot about that. Okay, you've successfully restored my confidence about a certain niggling plot hole.

I thought it was sweet that Veronica saw his rescue attempt for the heartfelt (perfect word for it, rashaka!) gesture that it was, and appreciated that. Yeah. And if the guy hadn't been a cop she could have been in trouble, so it was a worthy rescue regardless. And well-executed, too. Almost knocking the guy out with his punches, at the very least stunning him to immobility. Veronica's probably the kind of girl who appreciates good execution in a rescue, even an unnecessary one.

As far as Veronica and Logan as a ship go, I haven't really found what I'd consider an appropriate comparison. I don't like the Buffy/Spike comparison at all because I don't think either the individual characters or their relationships are alike and comparable. I do like the comparison recently made (by [livejournal.com profile] thebratqueen I think?) that it's more like Xander/Cordelia. I definitely see Logan as a more Cordelia-esque character than a Spike character. But I don't really see Veronica as a Xander type so that doesn't work either. Right now I sort of regard them as incomparable to previous ships because they're just different characters entirely. I don't really like all the romanticism put in Logan that I've seen in some fic, especially portraying him as a perfect guy in future fics. I do think he's a lot like Weevil in that he's got serious problems and might not be an "oh my god true love" match for Veronica. And Veronica's got a lot of her own relationship/trust problems, as we can see in how she interacts with her dad and Wallace. But right now I'm really enjoying the experience of watching them spiral toward a relationship. And I really want to see where it goes, what kind of relationship it develops into-- it seems to be started in genuine feelings of trust and shared sentiment rather than teenage lust or agression, and that's a good start.

You know, that's probably the best approach. They're both well written, fully realized characters. So, despite any superficial similarities, they're not anybody else, they're themselves. Because of the supernatural element of BtVS, there's an extremity Spike and Buffy went to that I just don't think applies to characters written as regular human beings. I strongly object to the Logan=Spike idea. I think sometimes the impression BtVS has left on fandom, and the way it continues to inform the way fans read shows which are completely different, can be negative. I've noticed myself doing it, even though I really don't think VM canon has given me any reason to.

I don't really like all the romanticism put in Logan that I've seen in some fic, especially portraying him as a perfect guy in future fics.

I've noticed that, too. I do think that he, like anyone else, can overcome his issues as he matures, and maybe gets some counseling, but I don't like it when a future fic that "perfects" him so much he's not himself anymore.

He has responded well to Veronica's kindness, but he's not a humanitarian, and his problems haven't suddenly gone away.

I do think he's a lot like Weevil in that he's got serious problems and might not be an "oh my god true love" match for Veronica. And Veronica's got a lot of her own relationship/trust problems, as we can see in how she interacts with her dad and Wallace.

I like how they've portrayed her flaws. When I first started watching, I really didn't want to see her in a romantic relationship with anybody. I wanted her to heal first. I'd give back the kiss if it's going to lead to more trauma for her -- I'd have been happy just to see L/V being friends to each other.

But right now I'm really enjoying the experience of watching them spiral toward a relationship. And I really want to see where it goes, what kind of relationship it develops into-- it seems to be started in genuine feelings of trust and shared sentiment rather than teenage lust or agression, and that's a good start.

I don't see them getting married or having babies, but I don't think they absolutely *have* to be horrible for each other. I think they might even be able to help each other heal... I hope.

Veronica/Logan isn't a trueloveforever, omgSOULMATES! 'ship for me. I mean, they're in high school! One of the things that made me pity Buffy like whoa was the way she seemed to think her teenage relationship with Angel was supposed to be, like, the highlight of her life. Please!

...I get that she had limited life expectancy, and sadness, and much issues, but it bugged me. Mostly because her relationship as Angel began to annoy me after it was privileged endlessly.

I think I'm kinda lucky in that I joined BtVS fanom post-Angel. It's like a totally different mindset with regards to the quality of the writing, the plotlines and story arcs of the characters, and especially the ships.
