If you've watched Doctor Who 2005 and have not read this fanfic, you should be ashamed.

I say quite sincerely that it is the best fanfiction portrayal of the Ninth Doctor's character that I've ever come across. It's set between the Eighth Doctor's movie and the first season of the new series with the Ninth Doctor.

It punched me in the gut and I want to both cry and hug something right now. And possibly rewatch a bunch of episodes.

Shame, shame, mon amie!

Doctor Who is my favorite new tv show of 2005. It's cute, wacky, adorable, adventuresome, sexy crack, with leather jackets and spacepants and a whole episode about battling ghosts with Charles Dickins.

Check out doctorwho_eps to get the episodes you don't have yet. I recommend watching the first two episodes in a row, actually. It's starts out kind "I don't know about this show..." and then wins you over with sheer fun and the lure of angsty backstory of doom.

What's weird is that if you've seen anything of earlier Doctor Who seasons, especially the tv movie with the Eighth Doctor, then you could actually read this fic with just that. Though the fic has spoilers for the second episode of the new season and makes the most sense if you've seen at least those two. There's also two or three little allusions to later episodes, but those aren't spoilery, just references.
