Is there some secret to finding art on DeviantArt that I just don't understand?

I've tried the search engine at the top (couldn't find any "advanced" search option), but all it does is let you search titles. Not even author names. And the categories never get any narrower than "fanart" or "anime" or "wallpaper". You can't browse categories that don't go any narrower than 10,000 images to choose from.

What if I want Naruto fanart? What about Furuba fanart? How am I supposed to FIND any of this shit if it's all searchable under titles-- it'd have to have exactly what I'm looking for in the title name.

The only way I ever come across anything at that frustrating site is if someone points me directly to the specific page. And if I lost the link, god help me if I ever want to find it again.

ARGH.

I just wish there was some easy, comprehensible way to browse that site. If anyone's got a suggestion, let me know. I'd visit a lot more if I knew how to navigate the fucking place.

I usually browse it by looking through people's favorites. Like...once I find an artist I like, I look through his/her gallery and then his/her favorites, and then when I find a picture (or pictures) that I like there, I look through THOSE artists galleries and favorites and so on.

I feel your pain. And trying from Google doesn't help, either. Gah. Why can't they have reasonable categories?

I'm so glad I'm not the only one frustrated. It really bugs me because its the ff.net of fanart sites, but it's so hard to search around. You have to have one artist to begin with, and the only place you can go from there is fav lists. Which means you're missing so much.

Usually if I can't figure out how to navigate a website within thirty seconds, I leave. I extend that to two or three minutes if it's a site I really want to see for some reason. DeviantArt is a complete failure at browser convenience.

I think that the search function is a feature of having a paid account. Am not sure, however.

Searching aside, I'd be happy with just something navicable. Do they have anything like the C2 communities on FF.net? At least then I might be able to find something naruto-themed, for example.
