timepiececlock: (Dr Who - so many aliens)

(no subject)

I only plan on owning dogs or cats, so that's all I listed below.

(But I did once name one of my brother's little yellow fish Binky after Death's horse in the Terry Pratchett books. He was miffed at the name "Binky", but he hadn't named it before, and once it's named it's named, so what can you do?)

Fandom Names I'd Give My Future Pets (or have already given my current ones)

Dog - female
Scully (XF)
Sen (Spirited Away)
Izumi (FMA)

Dog - male
Vash (Trigun)
Shigure (Fruits Basket), if he was black-colored
Mulder (XF)
Maes (FMA)
Ryoga (Ranma 1/2)
Bracca (Farscape)
Roland (The Dark Tower)

Cat - female
Kuroneko (Trigun), if she was black-colored
Buffy (BtVS)
River Tam (Firefly/Serenity), yes both first and last name
Shampoo (Ranma 1/2)

Cat - male
Kyo (Fruits Basket), if he was orange- or tan-colored
Spike (BtVS)
Zuko (A:tLA)
Crichton (Farscape)
Picard (ST:tNG), if he was gray-colored
Sasuke (Naruto), if he was black-colored and bitchy

Other
?

Sadly, I've never had the opportunity to name a new pet (except the goldfish that died by the next morning), so these are all hypothetical future names.

I switch fandoms too frequently to name a pet after one, unless there are strong physical resemblances (I wouldn't be able to resist naming a cat Harry if he had a jagged scar on his head). Of course, if it was a pet that wasn't known for longevity (guppies, maybe?), it wouldn't be a problem.

But Sasuke for a black and bitchy cat would be HILARIOUS.

We never named the guppies we had. They died too fast, and we think some of them went through spontaneous sex-changes a la Jurassic Park theory*, so you were never sure if gendered names were appropriate.

*we theorized this because we kept getting new baby guppies more than a year after all the males died out.

If I ever own a ferret I totally will.

[livejournal.com profile] octopedingenue and I are of the opinion that the best name ever for a kitty would be Havoc.

Is this because of that FMA Kitties thing? That was cute.

I agree in principle, though. My roommate's cat could have easily been named Havoc. Her name actually is Lucifer (Lucy), which is pretty close.

i was debating between using an x-file icon to comment or an star trek one, but in the end Picard won.

there was a period of time in my life where all my pets were called Mulder or Scully. i never outgrew that phase, i just stopped having pets XD

 I've been thinking of names for future pets and future children since I was about 8 years old. I've always had a great desire to name things.

If I were to get a cat, she'd be female and either spotted or white and I name her Parfait after the girl on Vanguard. Also, its a cute cat name.
