To me, Alisson Hannigan 9/10 times looks better in random photos and mag covers than she does on BTVS. Even in that behind-the-scenes pic of her and AD in the Angel crossover, with them standing and smiling/laughing-- she even looked prettier there. I don't think the longer hair is at all as attractive as the chin-length hair of seasons 4 and 5 of BTVS.
But from what I read, not that many people think so.

Heh. Vulcan-slaying. A sacred calling. The most important job in the verse. I am... Shaka the Vulcan Slayer. Also known as StVS.

Really, I thought my fandom was above this sort of thing.
Oh well. At least it's tasteful enough and has recognizable punctuation.

You are Never Leave Me! Consistently underrated,
you are full of surprisingly entertaining
moments. You like to reference Babe, you have a
crush on Patrick Swayze, and you think
shirtless Spike is a very good thing.

Never Leave Me-- good ep.
By the way, I liked the banner on TWOP. *shrug* Thought it was nice, classy, not in-your-face.

You make a valid point. I didn't contribute, but I know some people who did-- and I say, more power to 'em. Personally, I would rather donate my money to a worthier cause. Even something like the James Marsters Variety ad if it had to be something BtVS-related.
Re:
But if it makes someone happy to see it up there, whatver floats your boat. Or- whatever sharpens your stake. ;)
Re:
Oh, I agree, the JM ad was definitely more poignant-- and I think the people who made the banner knew that. In some ways I think the banner may have been just to spite Ace and Sep. But hey, like you said, not my money, and if people want to go ahead and promote Spuffy, that's cool with me.
Btw-- I agree with you about Alyson Hannigan too. I saw the Wrap Party photos and thought she looked absolutely stunning, especially in comparison to how she's appeared on the show this year. My personal theory? It seems to me that the other actresses are "prettied-down" in order to make SMG stand out. I mean, just look at the pictures of Amber Benson and compare it to how they made her look on the show, and you'll see what I mean.

You know, i kinda did too. The banner is tasteful and everything, but... For me, i always saw those banners as a last ditch effort to promote a sinking 'ship created by extreme fans like the ducks or kittens. And that is my greatest fear for our fandom once the show ends. I never want to be accused of "quacking".
Re:
Yeah. And I took semi-great lengths to gloat about the idiocy of it all. And then one of us does it--- it's a hard pill to swallow. But at least it's simple and constistant and reasonably asthetic.

Can I just say how much I freakin' adore your icon??
Yeah, I never want to be accused of being Duck-like either. Once the show ends, even if Spike does end up going to AtS, I'm letting the ship go-- I don't want to be hanging onto something that isn't ever gonna happen.
crap. dont' read that.
Re: crap. dont' read that.
Rashaka, don't worry, I love your musical icon too! :-)

Once the show ends, even if Spike does end up going to AtS, I'm letting the ship go-- I don't want to be hanging onto something that isn't ever gonna happen.
Well, what does letting the 'ship go mean? Cause, okay, when the show ends, i will accept that that is the end of the two characters. Together or apart, the show ended and so did their onscreen relationship. But...Well, I'll still be reading S/B fics, you know? And I'm a mod over at an S/B board and it's become a kind of haven that i don't want to give up. I'm just unclear about what is simply still enjoying a show that has ended, as well as a relationship that was portrayed on it, and becoming obsessive and delusional like the ducks.
hm...I'm guessing when i start referring to the characters as RealBuffy and RealSpike, as opposed to the apparent fake ones onscreen, that will be the point and time i would be quacking.
heehee:)
Re:

If you feel you must take a trip to egypt after the last episode (whatever that may be), I'll make quack quack noises at you to bring you back to your senses.
Unless I'm already on the plane, in which case I expect you to either drage me off kicking and screming or join me and bring food.
Re:

Heehee!
Oh, I'll still be reading Spuffy fiction and hanging out at the Spuffy boards. I just mean that I'm not going to convince myself that Spike and Buffy will have a happily-ever-after, and I'm not going to send Joss hate letters if he doesn't put them back together after S7. (Of course, there will be hate letters if he had some kind of a Bangel happily-ever-after ending.)
I want to still be able to enjoy the ship and the show, and I know I always will, but I just don't want to become overly obsessive and delusional about the ship's actual probability past season seven, y'know?
Re:
Ah, okay :) I will be there with you. I mean, i will enjoy the scenarios after the season finale in fanfic (because i think there will be aplenty this summer), but i will accept the end of the show as being THE END.
Even at the board that i frequent, we've decided we are going to be very careful to make sure it doesn't turn all Duck-y or Kitten-y, that it doesn't become a bitter graveyard of sorts where there is just mourning and longing. We would like it to continue to be as uplifting and positive as it is now, because we feel that is the most respectful tribute to this wonderful story we've been given.

Way better ways to spend 100$'s though.
Re:
Well, there's two ways I see this season ending:
Spuffy-postive.
Ship-nuetral.
I don't have any kind of spoiler confrimation for that, nor do I want any, but neither of those options would upset me (though the first is preferable, of course.) Still, the invitation is mighty kind o' ya. ^_^

Yeah. And it's all contained in two terms:
Gas/flight money.
Merchandise.
That hundred dollars could have bought you a pleather Spike!Coat online. Or an autographed something. Or every single watch & clock put out with a Buffy character one it.

Heh. I, too, have a soft spot for Spike/Dru. Did I ever tell you my fantasy ending for the series? You know, the one where Spike kills them all, turns Dawn, and the two of them peel out of town in search of Dru? ;)

Yeah, I guess I thought so too. On the bright side, it's simple, tasteful, and not too gushy, mushy.
I have no idea how the show is going to end, and I'm perfectly cool with that. I know there's a good chance JM may end up guest appearancing on Angel and if he does, yippee yay, I'm excited about it and I think the stories will probably be great. Whether or not Buffy and Spike end up together or neutral, I'll always think they would have made a great couple, but really, I'm not going to go around bashing the writers or the show or the character if they should give Spike a new love interest on AtS. Cause, well... that would be wrong to quote Faith as Buffy, which is always such fun to do!
Re:
I wouldn't either. But I also think I represent a pretty impossible sell among audience members. I could believe him havign a fuck-buddy, or a friend he sleeps with, but short of Buffy dying (still any option, right?), I don't think I'd buy into a love thing. But that doesn't mean I won't watch it, or that I'll rant and send the writers hate-mail.
It just means that I'll constantly be writing that kind of badfic where Buffy comes back, kicks the interloper's ass, and takes Spike away with ehr to hunt demons all over the world in a very romantic and nomadic life.
And I will rewrite this same story. Many times. Until it becomes canon in my head. And then no one will want to talk to me, because I'll be that kook around the corner, who everyone smiles depreciating smiles at and then ignores, lost in her own Byronic alterverse of fandom.

So long as you share these stories with me, I think it's a perfectly wonderful place to be.
I'd agree that I'd have a hard time buying love from anyone else. I won't say never, because I think given enough time, I could, but I wouldn't buy it right away. Just as I couldn't really buy Riley fourth season or any 'potential' love interest on Angel first season. But three years down the road I can totally buy Angel's love for Cordelia's and Buffy's for Spike. It's all a matter of timing.
Re:
Precisely. And the problem is even further compounded by the fact that what time takes a normal person (or demon) to get over a love has to be more than doubled or tripled for Spike. Because his entire character is designed as someone for whom forever is not only literal (vampire), but also the true depth of his potential feelings.
It's all a matter of timing.
That's so true. Once I'd been watching the show for a while in season 6, and it was truly clear that season 6 would have a Spike/Buffy arc of some kind, I began to think about the timing of that in comparison to the reruns I was seeing of earlier seasons, and I figured that if the show did end after season 7, then they'd have to end it with Buffy/Spike or Buffy alone. Because this show takes excruciating time in building relationships (except Kennedy. Eww.), where either the build-up or the relationship itself stretches over several seasons.
They simply wouldn't have time to give Buffy a new love, and have it be serious, before the end. Especially not when they had a ready-made partner right there, with lots of build up already in place. It was Spike or nothing.
And they chose Spike, so far.

See, I'd rather have seen a banner Spuffy ad that read: Unhealthy. Dangerous. Transgressive. Unnatural. Hot-as-fucking-hell.
And it'd need the tag that

That's at the other end of the good spectrum. You can either be polite and sweet, or funny, snarky, and naughty.
I would have preferred that too, because at least that one would have given me a giggle.

As Rashaka just said above me, you can have one end or the other. The banner they had was fairly tasteful, this one would have been just hilarious and snarky, and definately in Spike spirit.
