May. 3rd, 2003 08:50 pmTo me, Alisson Hannigan 9/10 times looks better in random photos and mag covers than she does on BTVS. Even in that behind-the-scenes pic of her and AD in the Angel crossover, with them standing and smiling/laughing-- she even looked prettier there. I don't think the longer hair is at all as attractive as the chin-length hair of seasons 4 and 5 of BTVS.
But from what I read, not that many people think so.

Heh. Vulcan-slaying. A sacred calling. The most important job in the verse. I am... Shaka the Vulcan Slayer. Also known as StVS.

Really, I thought my fandom was above this sort of thing.
Oh well. At least it's tasteful enough and has recognizable punctuation.

Date: 2003-05-04 01:17 am (UTC)Yeah, I guess I thought so too. On the bright side, it's simple, tasteful, and not too gushy, mushy.
I have no idea how the show is going to end, and I'm perfectly cool with that. I know there's a good chance JM may end up guest appearancing on Angel and if he does, yippee yay, I'm excited about it and I think the stories will probably be great. Whether or not Buffy and Spike end up together or neutral, I'll always think they would have made a great couple, but really, I'm not going to go around bashing the writers or the show or the character if they should give Spike a new love interest on AtS. Cause, well... that would be wrong to quote Faith as Buffy, which is always such fun to do!
Re:

I could believe him havign a fuck-buddy, or a friend he sleeps with, but short of Buffy dying (still any option, right?), I don't think I'd buy into a love thing. But that doesn't mean I won't watch it, or that I'll rant and send the writers hate-mail.
It just means that I'll constantly be writing that kind of badfic where Buffy comes back, kicks the interloper's ass, and takes Spike away with ehr to hunt demons all over the world in a very romantic and nomadic life.
And I will rewrite this same story. Many times. Until it becomes canon in my head. And then no one will want to talk to me, because I'll be that kook around the corner, who everyone smiles depreciating smiles at and then ignores, lost in her own Byronic alterverse of fandom.

Date: 2003-05-04 01:35 am (UTC)So long as you share these stories with me, I think it's a perfectly wonderful place to be.
I'd agree that I'd have a hard time buying love from anyone else. I won't say never, because I think given enough time, I could, but I wouldn't buy it right away. Just as I couldn't really buy Riley fourth season or any 'potential' love interest on Angel first season. But three years down the road I can totally buy Angel's love for Cordelia's and Buffy's for Spike. It's all a matter of timing.
Re:

And the problem is even further compounded by the fact that what time takes a normal person (or demon) to get over a love has to be more than doubled or tripled for Spike. Because his entire character is designed as someone for whom forever is not only literal (vampire), but also the true depth of his potential feelings.
It's all a matter of timing.
That's so true. Once I'd been watching the show for a while in season 6, and it was truly clear that season 6 would have a Spike/Buffy arc of some kind, I began to think about the timing of that in comparison to the reruns I was seeing of earlier seasons, and I figured that if the show did end after season 7, then they'd have to end it with Buffy/Spike or Buffy alone. Because this show takes excruciating time in building relationships (except Kennedy. Eww.), where either the build-up or the relationship itself stretches over several seasons.
They simply wouldn't have time to give Buffy a new love, and have it be serious, before the end. Especially not when they had a ready-made partner right there, with lots of build up already in place. It was Spike or nothing.
And they chose Spike, so far.

Date: 2003-05-04 04:56 am (UTC)See, I'd rather have seen a banner Spuffy ad that read: Unhealthy. Dangerous. Transgressive. Unnatural. Hot-as-fucking-hell.
And it'd need the tag that

That's at the other end of the good spectrum. You can either be polite and sweet, or funny, snarky, and naughty.
I would have preferred that too, because at least that one would have given me a giggle.

Date: 2003-05-04 09:58 am (UTC)As Rashaka just said above me, you can have one end or the other. The banner they had was fairly tasteful, this one would have been just hilarious and snarky, and definately in Spike spirit.
