Damn those pesky kids!

I'm now reading an HarryPotter fic that's Draco/Hermione. I'm liking it.

I don't normally read HP fic (due in part to my large dissatifaction with the films and some early bad experiences with Willow/Snape crossovers)... what does it say about me as a fan that I chose this pairing? Is this, like, a popular well-loved pairing? Is it horribly ridiculed across the more conventional/respectable HP boards, like Buffy/Spike once was for BtVS? Is it fondly regarded or generally dismissed and ignored?

The answer doesn't mean much to me either way (I'll read whatever), but I'm curious. I know there's a lot of slash fic out there for HP, but I'm mostly ignorant of HP fandom politics. Is slash the common fan-favorite?

I think in sheer number het probably wins out - the Ron/Hermione vs. Harry/Hermione vs. Harry/Ginny shippers pretty much dominate and argue over all the canon stuff.

The slashers are fair in number though, and don't tend to hide in shame :)

Draco/Hermione can be extremely enticing when done well. [livejournal.com profile] musesfool has a good story and [livejournal.com profile] jennyo has quite a hot little series. Smart girls and bad boys, yum.

Ah. Ok. Well, if I had to pick one of those it'd be Ron/Hermione. Actually don't have any pairing preference for Harry.

Nor should they. ;)

I'll have to check their's out. thanks.

I don't really read HP fic, but I have two friends who LOVE the Harry/Draco pairing. From what I've heard slash seems to run rampant in that part of fandom, but then again, I've never ventured into that kind of fanfic. I think it just depends where you look.

I really wasn't intending to get sucked into the HP fandom. I was avoiding. But it's like Legolas fic... before I know what's happenening, I'm reading the stuff and enjoying it.

Darn you, Rashaka, your post led me to the sick, evil badness that is Draco/Hermione smut and I think I may already be addicted.

Darn you!

It does put me in the mind of early S/B fic.

Ooh, what are you reading? I was looking at this fic that someone on LJ recced last week-- there's a link in that fic list I made a few days ago.

That's probably why I like it. I know that's why I like Tasuki/Miaka from Fushigi Yuugi. And why I like Cowboy Bebop fic with SpikeSplegel/Faye pairing. Though with that pairing the genders are switched and the woman is the ballsy-bitchy petty criminal suffering from semi-unreuited love and the man is the brooder jilted by past love.

I dunno why, but passionate love/hate is so much more interesting the than cuddly tragedy.

Adamo Fidelitas, by Pixiezombie. Yum. I started on Adultfanfiction.net and found a whole Hermione/Draco website

Sigh. There's nothing like having a new obsession.

cool.

I'm reading that potion fic right now... it's wonderfully amusing. And you're right... Draco here is like season 4 Spike. It's like you take that Spike ( who had only 3 states of mind: petty, bitchy, and horny), and condense him into a 17-year-old.

When I got into the HP fic I ventured there purely for the Snape stories, the Snape fanatic that I am. But I found out that there are really not that many Sape/OC romance stories to satisfy me so I tried out the only other logical pairing Snape/Hermione - and I NEVER shipped for them. Now I cannot get enough. I haven't been "deep" in the fandom to experience any flame wars, though, and as far as I'm concerned it's all fair game - whatever you ship is fine as long as you don't say it's the ONLY TRU PAIRING and attack mine. Ya' know?

Yo, S'cool. I actually don't like Snape romance because I picture the film actor, whom I love on his own but I also think looks terrible in the HP movies. His hair and make up really isn't becoming. And the bum thing is that when I read stuff I picture mostly the movie actors.

Don't crucify me for that though, I know a lot of people disagree.

Well, I'll obviously disagree, but "crucify"? Nah. I all "to each is own, man". Flame wars and popularity contests are not me. Which, I think, is why I have no enemies in the Harry Potter verse, or anywhere else for that matter.

::giggle::

I have only one enemy that I know of. A little Relena-hater from Gundam Wing fandom who blasted one of my fics and promised to have all her little friends beat me up. Coward didn't even leave a retun email.

I think having at least one is mandatory of sorts. Being in fandom these days means you have to have at least one. If I do, though, he/she is in hiding.

I have a fan, too! One. Somewhere out there, is a person named Jeff, and Jeff is my fan. I know this, because he emailed me a long time ago and signed it "Your fan". So it's a balance-- everyone needs an enemy and a fan or their very own.
