The Two Towers post #4

I think the shot wherein the princess Eowyn strides out the castle doors, and looks out over the plains as the horses approach in the distance, and the flag wavers in the wind and rips away... is the single most beautiful scene in this film. And the music! I adore the theme music for Rohan.

Amen! I loved that shot even when I had no context for it. And the theme for Rohan makes me gasp, it's so beautiful.

We were joking the other day about the banner, though. If it was so windy there, was the ripping a happy accident? Probably not, but it would have been funny.

Man, I have to watch TTT again when I get home.

And here I always thought it was all symbolic and stuff. I was so wrong.

What scene is yur icon from?

You know, I'm not sure. I don't think I even have the picture anymore.

Hm. I must watch the movie again, now.

Posted too soon. Oops.

I think the banner ripping was symbolic. I just can't figure out the logistics of it.

Also, we thought it would be really funny if it happened that way.

"Peter, the flag just flew away!"

"Keep shooting! Just keep shooting!"

And then Viggo rides up, and it lands nearby, and he's got a bit of a WTF expression on his face. Hee.

Still. Symbolism. Quite good.

Heh! I have that shot as my desktop wallpaper - I thought Rohan was absolutely gorgeous down to the tiny little details of the horses' head sculptures on the roof of the king's palace. And you're right - the theme music is absolutely GORGEOUS - they're using this kind of old, deep Norwegian fiddle, apparently (that's the thing that sounds a bit like a cello), which is so appropriate for Rohan with all its Viking-like overtones.

Hm... I thought it was a cello and a violin. Interesting.

Where'd you get the wallpaper?

I quite agree that it's a beautiful shot... After complete viewing of Two Towers I must confess to liking this movie much better than the first. THIS one I can understand people being mental over... Didn't get the first one... but the second one I did actually give a rip about the characters... so... there.

::evil grin::

Well, if we have you by movie 2, who knows, I might end up liking HP movie 3.

I love your Buffy/Almost Famous icon. That's fabulous.

And yes... who knows... maybe you'll be rather fond of HP 3! There's always a possibility of that. :)

I didn't make it but it's quite got my love.

HCances are better with a new director. It means a change in tone and style, two things I disliked about the first two.
