So I was trolling amv.org and I came across a few videos to the Modest Mouse song "Float On." The one only one with an anime I recognized was a FLCL vid. To me, that sounds like a perfect match. "Float On" would be a hard song to make a video for in the first place; FLCL is just random and absurd and visually stunning that a video would work well.
Of course, the vid was terrible. Long clips, no effort to time any bit, and worst-- subtitles.
That always happens. I come across what looks like the perfect marriage between song and source material, and what happens? The person who made it puts in less time than I take when going to the bathroom.

Such agony is familiar. I would have probably downloaded that video, had I found it. Just goes to show that:
a) Video editing is esoteric; only some people can do it well. I've know perfectly intelligent people who just don't 'get it'.
b) There are different levels of appreciate for things. Had that person really appreciated the anime and the song in a deep manner, I doubt that shitty video would have ever been produced.
::shrug:: The world is a beguiling place.

I would have been a lot more forgiving if they had just chopped the bottom off to get rid of the subtitles. Even though that's crude, at least it's something: there's no excuse for having subs there.
