there's meta and then there's anime meta

When the camera man turns to his boss the interviewer and asks when "When did this turn into a movie?", they had me.

I think I'm going to like Millenium Actress quite a bit.


EDIT: I have to pause to run to the computer every few minutes because I AM ENRAPTURED. This is a beautiful, beautiful film for the eyes to see.

EDIT: Dude, one second she's a warrior princess disguised as a travelling woman, now she's a Konoha-esque babyninja. Who even does log-replacement no jutsu. ::whistles::

Good movie, but don't expect anything along the lines of Perfect Blue.

Do you mean in quality? In interest level? In weirdness level? In meta level?

Hmm. I'm not sure how to take that, because I don't think I liked Perfect Blue as much as you did. I don't hold Perfect Blue on a pedestal. It was a very good movie wiht certain great aspects, but it was a 8.5/10 film, not a 10/10. I just give it very high props in certain areas-- mainly subtlety factor and WTF? factor. And because it's the only kind of mystery-psycho-thriller film I've seen in anime, and it left a strong positive impression on me for that genre.

It's the most meta movie ever. It is a bit like Perfect Blue with all the "Huh what happened where are we now?" moments.

Yep. But in many ways I was too busy watching the going-ons (and the pretty, pretty colors) to stop and think too much about the how or why.

Fuck yeah! It is! It is fucking amazing! I'm going to buy it. Yeah. I'm actually going to spend money on an anime DVD again! As soon as I get money. Once I do, this CD is *mine*!

I don't suppose you have the OST? Or know how to get it? Because the I love the music in this film.
