No play by play this time. Just general reactions, random order:

I love the Doctor's face when getting banished. He's like "Me banished? From England?"

I liked Rose (always) and the lady of the house. The actor for the lord was pretty good too-- I felt sad that they didn't get to be together, since they were so clearly in love.

The moonlight bit was cheesy, but in an acceptable DW way.

The special effects for the werewolf were good, but I could have done without the Flying Ninja Monks. Flying Ninja Monks? In Victorian England? And then went from Christian monks to Flying Ninja Monks simply by changing their deity from God to the werewolf? Yeah right. I supposed the werewolf taught them ninja skills, and gave them orange martial arts outfits? Baaah. That was a pointless opening fight scene. It'd've been better for them to simply storm the castle and overtake the household like normal criminals.

They're throwing the word "torchwood" around pretty heavily. Does this mean we'll see Captain Jack this season?

I loved the reference to Rose "having something of the wolf in [her]", or whatever the werewolf said. I'm hoping there's more to it than just the season 1 stuff; I'm curious to know what the phrase "bad wolf" as an arbitrary message through time from Rose to herself has to do with a literal wolf....or, I suppose, a literal alien that resembles a wolf in a human body. That part of the episode wasn't very well explained, btw. Was it a body-jumping alien? A mutation of an alien cell?

Speaking of confusion, what was up with the sound editing this episode? The dialogue was hard to hear in places. And DT slurred a lot of his lines so I had to repeat some and just plain missed a few others.

I was amused by the way Rose got more and more self-conscious every time someone said "the naked girl." Seems our concept of nudity really is culturally defined, eh?

Random--- the cat Lucifer is laying on me. She just comes up and lays on me. I'm like a rug or something. ::stares down at Lucifer:: Strange creature, but at least she's soft. Like a self-propelled heating pad.

EDIT:

What about Romana?

Why have I seen two people already mention her in reference to the dinner table scene? As I understood it Romana was not the Doctor's girlfriend, she was a fellow Time Lord and a companion. And I thought the entire fandom was all "Asexual Doctor yay!" for the last 30 years or whatever?

I'm not knockin' OTPs, but I'm pretty confused as to why anyone would infer something about a SPECIFIC older character from *this* scene. Why Romana Why wouldn't the Doctor be morning any one of his dead companions? How do we know he's not mourning that nice girl from The Unquiet Dead? Or Jack? He could be missing Jack. I miss Jack.

Better yet, why shouldn't we assume that every time the Doctor mourns he's morning, oh, I don't know, his whole DEAD PLANET?

... anyway the truth is I'm annoyed cause I'm worried I missed a secret reference on account of my not having seen any Romana episodes yet. If I did miss a secret reference, fine. Let me know. But if I DIDN'T miss a secret reference (I doubt there was one), and this is all just random shippery speculation along the lines of "Oh, he looks sad, he must miss CharacterX so badly" subtext invention... then I'll be officially annoyed at y'all for making me THINK there was a secret reference that I missed somehow. Cause that's not cool.
