Dear world,

I have not played Kingdom Hearts II. Yes I feel the pain of this.

Dear world,

I have not finished Kingdom Hearts 1. Yes I feel the shame of this.

Dear world,

I'm almost out of college. When I have weekends again I'll beat that goddamn dragon if I have to shit out my own neon energy balls to do it. Then I'll buy Kingdom Hearts II.

-Rashaka

If I finish FFX for you, would you put the beatdown on an annoying bastard in my ratings comm?

KH II isn't even out here in Australia.

I feel bitter.

How does this sound. You beat FFIX for me, and I'll work on FFX then let you borrow FFX2. Oh, and give me back those countless hours of KH so I remember what I'm supposed to be doing and how to play the game to begin with.

I haven't beat FFX either. I'm stuck on the stupid dragon thing that attacks when they are on Rikku's dad's ship, which I heard is supposed to be easy to beat, but I can't do it!!!

You should be. It is glorious. Sephiroth is still hard as hell, though, so maybe it's a good thing you don't have it yet. Saves you money on controllers.

Have a fun.

[BOSS - Evrae]
[32,000 HP - 5400 AP - Steal Water Gem]

Ok, this will not be easy. Everyone needs to have at least 1700 HP, so fight
random battles on the airship if you need to. Begin by going in with Auron,
Tidus, and 1 last guy, and heading into the fight with full Overdrives. Unleash your overdrives on him, and keep attacking. When all overdrives are exhausted, use Tidus, Auron and Rikku. Have Tidus and Auron continue attacking and have Rikku use an Al Bhed potion whenever someone is petrified or poisoned. When Evrae goes down to 8000 HP, he casts haste. Have Tidus cast haste on everyone before you nail the 8000 HP mark. When Evrae inhales air, it’s going to use Poison breath the next turn. Have Rikku use an Al Bhed Potion before and after the attack. Keep it up, and Evrae will hit the floor hard. They key to the battle is have everyone hastened, have Rikku use Al Bhed Potions, and have everyone at least at 1700 HP to survive the Poison Breath.

Which dragon? Maleficient? Also, what Seymour battle? Oh, and don't feel too bad about not playing KH II. It isn't all that good in the first...

Sorry, I can't lie. It's goddamn incredible! Finish KH quick so you can see how things pan out in KH II. Oh, and play it on hard mode to get the secret movie a lot easier than on normal mode. Fucking Jiminy's Journal.

FF IX still makes me cry. Not in a good way, though. I get they were trying to get back to the whole crystal dynamic, but the plot made no freaking sense. Even FF VIII made more sense than IX, and VIII was batshit insane.

Maleficient, yep. I'm pretty close to the end of the game.

Sorry, I can't lie. It's goddamn incredible!

I can't tell by how the anime/gaming fans on my flist exploded over it. :D I have to say KH is the game I've closest to finishing of all my video/comp games, so I have high expectations for the sequel. I've also managed not to be spoiled at ALL for it.

Hard mode? I dunno... the normal mode for KH1 was about my comfortable playing level.

KH II is pathetically easy. But if you like minigames and completing every little aspect of a game, then knock yourself out with normal mode. As for Maleficient, that was a pretty easy fight. Just use Aero, avoid the green flames and shockwaves, and if things get bad, just cast Stop on her. Make sure you've got lots of potions and ethers, and you should be fine.

I actually disliked the minigames, so maybe I'll try the hard version.

I only actually only fought Maleficient about four times before I had to put the game away for a month, and I haven't pulled it out in the last 6 months because I just haven't thought of it or been in a hurry to finish. But I'll remember the aero thing-- I've rarely used that.

Not. Helping.

I think it comes out here in ... August? October? Some time far enough away to make me want to cry, anwyay. Everyone on my flist are writing posts about it and fanfic and icons, and I don't understand a single thing ;.;

Hahaha, actually, it's the 'which Seymour fight' bit I'm referencing. I beat the game a few months back, but it was sort of ridiculous. Seymour, dude, I love you and all, but seriously, this zombie thing is getting out of hand.

(I died the first time I fought him 'cause of Anima! and then I level-slutted to a ridiculously high level and kicked him down and decided to stick with that strategy for the rest of the game. *g*)

It was the second major Seymour battle. I even tried that thing where you pay that one Summon all money for the single stroke kill, but I could never get him to do it-- he always went for the weaker attack and took all my money with him.

Never played FFIX. Was it good? I also had little interest in X2... I haven't finished FFX (though now that I think about it I guess I know Yuna doesn't die...) and I'm not sure I like FFX enough to play its sequel. All the walking and talking drove me crazy-- it bothered me in a way that it didn't in FF7, though I never finished that game either...

I'd love to, but I'd be pretty useless in that regard. Can you tell me how to beat Seymore 2.0?

From: [identity profile] donna-c-punk.livejournal.com
Seymour 2.0? You fight that cat about fifteen times ... do you mean Seymour on the Highbridge, or Seymour on Mount Gagazet? It's weird, but I was killed by Highbridge Seymour five times before I finally defeated him, and breezed right through Gagazet, which seems to be the version people get stuck on.

Man, I NEVER summon Yojimbo. Not even in my game file where I have almost 30 million gil to my name. He never uses the attacks you NEED. It was kinda like VIII, when Odin would appear randomly and kill the goddamn monsters you needed to stock magic from. God that pissed me off.

I have IX. It's been sitting in my room for the past three months. Just never got around to messing with it.

As someone who spent over 200 hours playing X2 just so she could get 100% completion, IT'S NOT WORTH IT. Especially if you're not a 'shipper for a certain pair of characters. I felt fucking gyped. Just go to a site and download the FMV endings. Saves you time, money and sanity.

Gagazet. Really, it depends on how much you've leveled your characters and which ones are the strongest. By the time I hit Gagazet, Yuna's well done with her part of the Grid, so she's pretty strong. I level the shit out of my characters, which you could say is cheating, but who cares?

I always keep Yuna in the party to cast Shell, Protect and heal everyone when needed. Lulu, I usually bring her in early to cast Bio. That way whenever Seymour pulls something, he damages himself. If Rikku's in Overdrive, I'll bring her in and have her mix up whatever bomb I have items for. I use Tidus and Auron as my heavy hitters. They suggest you hit the Moribody thingy, since it'll siphon HP from Seymour, but it also keeps him from performing his more deadly attacks. I focus Tidus on hitting that thingy, then use Auron to hit the body. Since my characters are pretty strong, they inflict A LOT of damage. I'll change Yuna out for Lulu every once in a while, to help do damage. Mostly, I keep Yuna around, because without her healing and removing Zombie, it's tough to win that fight.

Um, you'll notice I never mentioned Kimahri or Wakka. I hardly ever use them. They're always my least developed characters in the game whenever I reach the end.

Srsly. I played KHI on easy and died all the fucking time. I played KHII on normal, never leveled except for drive forms, and died all of four times (twice because it took so long to scroll through the Objective bar that by the time I knew what I was supposed to do, it was too late).

KHII has significantly less platform jumping, which makes it drastically superior to KHI. Also, more dancing.

Train train train train train. Basically, I'd just run around killing monsters until I had around twenty spheres for everyone, use those to snag whatever was closest / needed on the sphere grid (mostly I aimed for HP and strength, but that's 'cause I used the heavy-hitters most in battle (Tidus, Auron, and Wakka), with spells and MP for Yuna), and then train for another twenty. I'd do this in most large areas and again before boss fights I knew were coming up, but a) I like fighting, b) I didn't find it boring, and c) it's entirely possible anyone else would. *g*

On the plus side? Knocking Seymour out in a single round.

I didn't entirely understand FF IX myself, but I find I get lost half way through the story line on most of the FF games. At least once. I think getting back to the way they used to do things was an interesting angle, but not in the sense that it made the game freaking impossible.

Date: 2006-05-23 02:21 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] slacker-97.livejournal.com
It was difficult in the way the old Nintendo versions of FF were difficult. Seemed that all the random attack people were at least three times more leveled up than you. It was interesting, had lots of amazing cut scenes, but other than that, DAMN NEAR IMPOSSIBLE. In fact the only reason I didn't beat that game was because I started the last boss fight, only to find out it was like an eight part last boss fight that after the third hour of this fight and using everything I had, I died. ARGH!

FFX2 was alright. The dress sphere thing was both interesting and annoying. I think the thing I didn't like about it was the game didn't seem to have that same feeling of freedom like FFVII,VIII, and IX had where you didn't have to be where you needed to be.

From what I'm reading, it sounds like you've got issues with finishing your games. Just like me :)

I'm so pathetically behind on Return of the King, you don't even want to know. I haven't even gotten the hobbits out of Osgiliath. And my Buffy:Chaos Bleeds game... I did what I always do. I loved it and played it all the way up to the last major boss (some asshole vampire), realized I suck, died about forty something times, then gave up. I have Beyond Good And Evil which I liked quite a bit and played through about half, until the geography of this one level got too difficult and I gave up. Might go back to that someday though-- BG&E was pretty much my ideal game, better than Kingdom Hearts or the Buffy game. It was that level between easy and challenging for a fair-weather gamer, and I guess it challenged me just a shade too much.
