More BSG thoughts, near the end of 2x05

::snort:: That expression on Starbuck's face? On mine too. What was it she said a couple of episodes ago about being stupid? Yeah, that.
If "love" is what was missing, then the cylons are going to end up trying so hard to be superior only to end up turning themselves into humans. All the murder/rage stuff they are claiming makes them better than humans is also part of love. And then what's the point? They're not superior anymore, they're just like us. Which makes murdering however many billion humans a pointless act of genocide against your own kind.
I guess I'm having a problem with that whole approach to artificial intelligence on this show. The stuff that the cylons seem to stand for, and everything. The religious stuff (monotheist vs. polytheist) is a cool twist, but the whole "let's make ourselves real" thing is just stupid. If you're an artificially intelligent computer, you're not going to give a fuck about being as human as you can without actually being born to it. It's the whole throwback to Data on Star Trek. Yeah it was cute that he wanted to be human, but realistically, I don't think a real cyborg would care. Because you can't envy something you're incapable of comprehending. I don't envy dolphins for their amazing talent at echolocation, and I'm sure they don't envy me for my ability to walk on land.
If the cylons go through so much work to make themselves resemble humans, even to the point of loving and hating and recreating exactly like a human, then their entire existence is pointless. The end result is more humans, which is the same as if the cylons had never been created at all.
On a totally unrelated note: the freedom-fighting guest star on this episode is EXACTLY my kind of hotness. I'd pick his hotness over Lee's hotness or Helo's hotness, every time.
