That's how it was with me, too. I hit the breaking point with chapter 108, where there was a vitally important conversation and it made no fucking sense at all. Grammatically it was total nonsense, and I only had a vague sense of what was going on. It was what I'd probably come up with if *I* tried to translate it myself--character by character using a cheap translation dictionary. Not worth my time or effort, and it ruins the fun of the series for me.
I have volumes 1-5 in official translation already, and I just bought 12 and 13. I'll probably by 10-11 as well, though I might forgo 6-9, since back then the translations for the scans weren't so overall crappy.
