ATLA image spoilers for season 3: I think I saw BLOOD right there

Why must Sept. 21st be so far away? Who knows what state the government will have me camped out in by then? What if there is no internet or cable tv? WHAT THEN?!? I've learned to live without tv, but Avatar wasn't on at the time!


In his entire animated life Zuko has never looked more like an angst-ridden, tormented bishonen than he does in this picture.

What IS IT that his armor and pose reminds me of?

EDIT: There is a two and a half minute season 3 trailer! Everybody looks so bad-ass, I just want to cry.

Shit, it's bedtime, but how can I sleep now? I think I saw a dead person and a previously invisible person, and there was...and....and... ack! Katara, Aang, Sokka, Zuko, Iroh, Azula, all of them... I never thought, back when I watched the first few episodes of ATLA, that it would be so awesome. Aah, those innocent days.

If there is ANYONE on my list who hasn't tried watching Avatar: The Last Airbender, then I say you have some catching up to do, and just two months to do it.

I think I saw BLOOD in the trailer. Which, coming after mind control, child abuse, and regicide, still manages to shock me. If ATLA finally shows blood, what ELSE will they be hurtling at us?

I swear I saw Zhao or someone that looked like him with GLOWING BLUE EYES.

If Zhoa somehow appears as the ocean spirit, even in someone's dream... that's unspeakably cool.

And the fights! Katara looks like she's taking her waterbending to a serious threat level, and Sokka is leading a charge, and I think I saw some very Ghibli-esque camera pans and angled vistas in there.

Does the idea of the pairing in something canon upset you that much? Anyway, there was a Mai/Zuko kiss in the promo, if that interests you.

I totally agree with your comment, though. (I have managed to avoid crying, having now watched it three times, but I cannot avoid drooling. Oh. My God. This is so totally worth the wait.) This show is brilliant from so many angles. And Katara kicks so much butt. Possibly ranking as my favorite power female character ever. ...*drools over how awesome it is*

So shiny! The action and animation look top-notch, like Nick has finally realized the worth of this series heightened the production value, but that's not even it -- everything looks so awesome! Like all the awesome has been accumulating through seasons 1 and 2 and now season 3 is going to shamelessly trumpet out all of it.

Everyone does looks badass -- and I still can't wrap my head around Sokka looking like he just came out of Mononoke Hime. Is it just me or does it seem like he and Appa will make a fine team for Season 3? He can't bend but give him a flying bison and he might kick just as much ass as his sister...

... or not because she will be kicking a LOT of ass! Wow! I also really like that she abandoned the hair loopies. I'm aware it's just for camouflage, but at the same time I can't help but think we're looking at someone new, someone wildly powerful. *sniffs*

As for Zuko, I'm pretty sure Van of Fanelia also borrowed that pose once or twice. Iroh might be severing ties with Zuko, too, which means, of course, that Zuko will be angsting like never before. Only this time, it's really for his country! I can't wait!

That's right! Sokka does look like something from Mononoke. Kind of like San, actually, since he's riding on a large furry animal. And if he stays with Appa while the others infiltrate the Fire Nation... interestings adventures may abound.

I mean, Aang is the Big Gun, and the Wise Leader, and the Spiritual Diplomat, and THe Avatar... but Katara is the one who does the down & dirty fighting. I'm sure Zuko would understand Van *very* well. They're both very angry, very nationalistic, very confused, and very homeless princes. Except Van doesn't have the capability for cold ruthlessness (betraying family) that Zuko apparently did inherit. When Van went on dark binges, Hitomi called him back. Zuko wouldn't let Iroh save him.

Oh man, I love your analogies; they're unconventional and they fit. I also like that you've corresponded Aang to a WMD because when I think about it, that's exactly what he is. For someone so young (100 years of sleep don't count) he's carrying the responsibility of Saving The World with a hefty bout of angst, and to top it off, the methods for World-Saving are unclear and sacrificial. And we've seen him get destructive already. You can practically hear him ticking...

Oh, and about the blood! Frankly I'm not sure it can get any worse; we've already seen a mushroom cloud, right? *shudders*

Please don't make me imagine them interacting. It's just too depressing, unless you picture them comparing their soul-warping Sacrifices of Honor, in which case it's just surreal.

And when you bring up the differences between Van and Zuko, regarding their relationships -- this is part of why I've been so keen on Zutara! (no longer rabid, though, since in many ways I'd prefer it in fanon than in canon) I always thought character types like him just screamed for an epic romance, or that he at least deserved more than one individual to reach out to him. It would've rocked to watch a relationship that powerful develop, preferably between two rivalistic equals.

(so that too is why, regarding That Kiss, I'm really the bad kind of indifferent. we never watched That Pairing happen; it was always just kind of there, and so IMO not very interesting. and Zuko sulks enough for the both of them anyway)
