I loved this episode for a variety of reasons, most covered above. Mostly because Suki, Ty Lee, and Mai all had amazing sequences and/or character advancement.
I did have one slight beef with the episode, although this isn't the writers fault, really, because the characters really can be that dumb: When Zuko and Sokka are trying to figure out how to get off the island, I kept yelling at the screen "Bring the Master Waterbender who will be able to freeze a path long enough to get you off! I know she nags, but what the hell are you thinking?! You KNEW it was surrounded by boiling water!!"
I love it when Sokka is brilliant, so I forgive them ignoring the obvious, but geez, guys, why did she go through all that training anyway?
