Raise your hand if you're counting the days until HELLBOY 2 comes out.

Random movie anecdote: I once made the mistake of cracking the line "You are not a beautiful and unique snowflake," to a group of my peers (18-24, literally) in a team-building exercise. The person I said it to, apparently having never seen the movie in question, looked at me as if I'd just kicked her. So did the group leader: "That's a terrible thing to say." I was like..."Uh, I didn't mean it like that. I was being sarcastic. ...Haven't ANY of you seen Fight Club?" It was an oddly self-fulfilling scene in terms of the movie being referenced.

I REALLY liked the trailed for the second movie so I watched the first one and... meh. Still, I really want to see the sequel ^^

The first one I ended up liking a lot more than I expected, which is why I have a fond recollection for it. It didn't stand out to me as the "greatest comic book movie ever" or take my breath away like Iron Man or Batman Begins. But I was surprised that instead of it being bad, I quite liked it and found the main character endearing. I think I gave it a mental B grade.

The trailers for the second look amazing though... I love all the monsters. How is it that in some movies people in monster costumes look like hokey buffoons, but in other films (like LOTR or Pan's Labyrinth) they look majestic, weird, and threatening and beautiful?

Yeah, the monsters are what I found the most interesting about the trailer. They are so amazing I can actually convince myself that they live out there somewhere. And that is why I have to see it in the movies and not wait until it's out in DVD!

In the first one I was hoping to like the characters a little bit more. Hell Boy is OK (that scene where he follows the girl on her 'date' was seriously cute XD) and I LOVE Abe, but the girl... I don't even remember her name, but there was something lacking there. Not a bad movie, mind you, but I was hoping to like it more.

The pyrotechnic girl? Yeah, she was hard to identify with, I thought. I liked Hellboy quite a lot though, particularly the way he interacts with normal people, and his overall attitude.

I am hoping we get to see more of the side-characters developed in this movie, because I felt we got a good picture of Hellboy in the last one, but only surface views of his compatriots, nothing that really stuck in my mind.

although....

...I can't help but also notice that the Big Bad in the trailer looks almost exactly like the Wraith on Stargate: Atlantis, which I've been watching for four seasons now. ::snert::

I am a HUUUUGE fan of the Hellboy comics, and I believe them to be well worth investing in and reading over and over and over okay I'll stop the inane fangirling, some people don't care for them at all. The first movie was alright, but I'm really liking the trailer for the new one. I just wish they'd have ditched the actress who plays Liz, she's made of wood.

Hellboy + Abe Sapien + Tentacle Monsters = WIN

Let's hope it's the same for fairies.

Wow, you're quite right about that!

Wasn't she like the only girl? XD Maybe it's problems with the actress, like that comment you got down there says.

I really really want to like this movie...

Also, what about the new Batman, are you going to that? ^^

Hand raised as high as it can go. Ron Perlman rocks my socks, Guillermo Del Toro is a FANTASTIC director, and I just fell in love with the first movie. It had its weaknesses, to be certain (I liked Liz the pyro more than most, but I felt she didn't get enough screentime, and Agent Mayers was far too blatant a stand-in for my tastes), but Hellboy's just such a lovable mug, and the monster effects and overall story were great fun. If the second movie can do that but bigger, I'll be more than happy.
